As someone who was obsessed with the Arkham games, I am so impressed with this new Gotham City. In comparison, Arkham’s Gotham never reached this level of depth, even though it had plenty of detail. This game is really shaping up to be a lot of things that the Arkham games never chose to dive into and form its own identity.

What caboose said about grappling is so right. It's just like the comics, how they use the grapple swing themselves through the city for parkour. Which you could not do in Arkham

Yeah, and the fact that heroic traversal is not all time avalible, like small gap area and when jumping across the roof tops, combining heroic traversal, pakour, and grapnel all together will make up for the most badass vigilante experiences ever

@@KingShibe yeah but that game was filled with criminals driving, police chasing them, and tanks you could chase. Plus there was a reason why citizens evacuated which helped understand why you’d rarely see regular people but even then sometimes you would see normal people that got left behind.

I think this was an interesting video that showed off the design and history of the city well. In my opinion, a lot of people focused way too much on things the video probably wasn't trying to show off anyway.

I completely agree with you, Caboose! I love the way they explain the history of Gotham City from what it was back then to how it looks now when we play the game. The new gameplay they showed while talking about the open-world of Gotham is absolutely awesome and yes, you can grapple anywhere from above you or below you, which is pretty cool. I paused the video and I noticed there's a timer for teleporting as Robin and you have only 8 seconds to teleport. If you pause the video from when the timer starts to show, it says you have 8 seconds to teleport. I am SUPER excited to play Gotham Knights when it comes out and can't wait to explore the whole city!

I love this showcase because it is very unique and not something you would expect. Most games go "yeah& here's our open world, there's an implied history, there's loads to do." But they actually go in and give us details on who owned what burrow of Gotham and it gives us an idea of the aesthetics they'll have in-game. Also it is very cool how they made concept art for their Gotham's history, and they crafted a history using Batman mythos. Very unique and it has me intrigued and excited.

Fun Fact: Before the 5 families of Gotham became what it is today in the comics originally Sam Hamm was the first to base the 5 families of gotham which was gonna be in Batman Returns first draft before it was scrapped and he had a plot explaining how Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne/Batman money came from cause he didn't know I'm glad years later it was adapt in the comics and now in the gotham knight game

I don't really think they went through all that trouble of creating concept arts of Gotham's 400 year evolution for just an IGN section, I genuinely think they might have a section of gameplay or at least couple of minutes of cutscenes dedicated to old original Gotham explaining the Courts origin

I actually really enjoyed the open world gameplay, it almost felt more like an assassins creed (pre-rpg) style parkour system, which I think works well for the majority of the knights

With every new video detail drop I'm getting more and more excited for this game. My only issue with the gameplay is still the secondary traversal options, Red Hood mystic leaps, Robin teleportation and Night Wings Fortnite glider, feels so immersion breaking for me. I would have preferred just the basic traditional traversal of parkour, gliding, zipline, grapple guns and Batcycle. Hopefully the game doesn't force you to use those secondary traversals by implementing timed missions where you have to beat a timer to get across the city or areas that can only be accessed by using them. I prefer to keep the Knights grounded in some sort of realism like in the Arkham franchise. Think my mains will be Batgirl and Night Wing. The city looks amazing although it doesn't feel as alive as I thought it would be. That little clip of Robin on the batcycle, even though at the end you finally see some pedestrians walking seemed very barren like AC Origins. I hope I'm wrong and this was just the small section. Looks like that concept art may be some cinematic cutscene retelling the history of Gotham and probably how the 5 families created the Court.

What would have been cool is that you can still get the cape glide for everyone if you want to glide down from a high point. Maybe not get grappling hook like batman for everyone but maybe just for batgirl and the others got just a cape to glide down at least. But we will see.

The city looks amazing. It’s beautiful yet gritty. The parkour looks cool as well. The way robin runs across the rooftops and using the grappling hook. It looks cool. There’s just one thing I’m not sold on. The city looks empty. There’s hardly any cars around I saw like 3 pedestrians. It’s a city right it’s meant to be busy. Yes it’s Gotham and filled with crime but it’s still a big city with around 10 million people. I’m still incredibly hyped for this I just hope there will more people walking around the city, more vehicles on the road that kind of thing.
