That chief arbiter should be replaced if Alireza's story is true. That is an absolute disgrace. I had an opponent try to talk to me while I walked up and down the playing area and I was angry. My time was running and he broke my train of thought, I know that feeling. It was extra satisfying when I eventually won through to absolute victory. I did claim against him for intentional distraction after his third draw offer.

The Salimova vs Lei looks like an accelerated Shirov gambit declined which is absolutely terrifying to deal with either way because whites pawns are barreling down your kingside(the declined) or you have the rook at G1 staring at your pawnline on the side you really need to be castling to so you comfortably pull off the typically quite aggressive queenside midgame that is set up in the opening.

I've had tournament directors give me three blacks in a row in four rounds. I also had one forfeit my game when I requested a bye prior to the tournament starting. And still argued about when the bye was in writing. OTB sucks these days.

You know, we used to say Ian was inconsistent and reliant on having the time advantage to suprise his opponents, that was his style some five years ago, but his defensive resourcefulness has really shined through this tournament and proves how he has really mastered what used to be his weakest point. It's important for a defensive player to be able to get into the mind of the attacker and this is what makes Nepo specially effective. He realizes Alireza is smelling blood and starts to do a King walk and setting up a fortress. Nepo bends but does not break

Guys who think he should have done a poll at the beginning of the candidates asking who is going to win it.
