Unfortunately, just like any food from a completely different region/country/continent, there are ingredients that are hard to come by in other places (like if you were trying to make pad Thai or maybe a traditional Louisiana gumbo). Most of these are traditional Mexican cuisine ingredients. They're pretty abundant and widely used.
