Love your work. Could you tell me where you find the right glass eyes for each animal? They really are the soul of your creations. I dabbled in forming wire armatures from coat hangers and plaster soaked strips of bed sheets when I was in college back in the eighties. I made a bulldog similar to yours but I had to use marbles for the eyes. Your way seems much quicker? (or maybe it's the illusion of the time lapse?) ;) You've inspired me to play once more. :) Also I'm not familiar with the material you are using for the claws and teeth? Is it available at any craft store?

Where do you get the glass eyes? I have been using sculpty or Fimo for the eyes. The glass eyes really make the project pop. When I discovered you book several years back it really opened up a new perspective for me. Never thought of the masking tape or the cloth. The cloth really adds. The project is still very light too. I’m so excited I found you on KZbin. :) love it if your stuff we go to a gallery or something like that so I could see everything. I bet your class was popular and fun. I know I would have signed up.
@Gourmetpapermache

I buy my eyes online from taxidermy companies. If you google you can find them all (there are only three or four). They do make a project come alive. I'm biased of course, but yes, I think the cloth and glue (what I call "cloth mache") is great for the "skin" of paper mache sculpture. I did enjoy teaching the classes. Thanks again for your kind remarks. Dan

@Gourmetpapermache
@Gourmetpapermache 5 жыл бұрын
¡Buena suerte!

Is there any way I could use this glue instead of elmers? www.diy.com/departments/cementone-white-pva-25l/136776_BQ.prd?&_requestid=517684 It says plasterers glue but the info what I can see points to it maybe being an all purpose white pva like elmers. I live in uk so it is hard to find elmers and what is sold only comes in small bottles/is over £20. I do not really have that much to spend on glue

I don't know about that. The picture on the front looks like it is used for painting. There must be an all purpose PVA glue available.

what material you use that looks like a piece of cloth that you use to cobbrir him?
@Gourmetpapermache
@Gourmetpapermache 10 жыл бұрын
That is cloth dipped in white glue. It adds strength and allows for detail you can't get with just paper. Dan

wemerson soares I never know exactly how long it takes to make a project since I'm usually doing several at a time. And recording them takes time as well. So I just don't know. Maybe a couple weeks.

Your work is amazing.I wanna make a turtle shell, what do you recommend me to make it looks like a real shell?
@Gourmetpapermache
@Gourmetpapermache 8 жыл бұрын
+ricardo toscano I'm not sure what you should use. Maybe just use white glue with the paper strips. That might make it more shell like. But I have never made a shell. I'm just not sure.
