I ain't disconnecting no 8yo air bags!!! But seriously, I love what you did with the suspension and those rims. Classy. Got a '12 G37xSport about 2yrs ago in Graphite Grey. Currently running strong at 190,000 except for an upcoming exhaust rattle repair. Rattle occurs at the low RPM , high torque range. Warm up valve maybe? This paint is still immaculate, everything works as supposed to, but the two big killers are the headlight assemblies. I can keep em clear for about a month before they turn hazy and yellow. I can either get em done professionally or buy new ones . Also need new exhaust tips. This is a daily driver so Im not looking to modify. Its great just the way it is. Oh yeah, had to replace a frozen then broken driver door latch assembly/actuator. Infiniti wants $700.00 for it and believe me, I almost paid it. Found part at Parts Geek for about $200.00 and the local Nissan dealership was nice enough to put it in.
@GQ37official3 жыл бұрын
Yeah man with headlights once that clear coat is gone it's going to keep coming back. I'm not a big fan of the aftermarket headlights the light output usually isn't as good and then it's hard to get the beam aligned to have anywhere near the line of sight your factory ones did when you're going down the road. I recommend getting them buffed really well and then putting the headlight clear over them. it's not regular clear coat you can usually get it in the automotive section at Walmart and it'll make it last for a good eight months or more before you have to buff them again. At least that's about how long it holds up in the Florida sun depending on where you live it might work longer. As far as the exhaust rattle it may be your heat shield around your cats. It's pretty common for the heat shields to start doing that as they age. Some people just take them off all together and that eliminates the problem. I would find a muffler shop that would look at it for you and put it up on the rack so they can kind of see where the problem area is should be a cheap fix. my custom exhaust was doing that last year I scraped it a little bit on a speed bump and it started vibrating like that under acceleration. I took it to my local pep boys they put it on the rack saw the problem area right away and bent it back, no charge. 🤷♂️ It's worth a shot.

I'm buying a 2010 G37 x Sedan tomorrow. I have a Cadillac CTS-V so I'm not buying this for speed. Any suggestions on what to buy for a smooth luxurious ride? I'm not concerned with price just quality.
@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
Normally in the instance of a smoother ride I would suggest getting a Cadillac, but you already have one! 🤣 In all seriousness though, the G37 does ride a bit sporty compared to other lux sedans. I remember my Infiniti Fx35 was one of the best looking small SUV's out there, but it was about as bumpy as my Z! On the bright side, you're getting the sedan rather than the coupe so that may help a little. Unfortunately there's not much I know of to be done to make it smoother than factory, especially on the X model as the awd set up has less coilover / shock options for that model. And really any coilover setup I can think of will really only make it firmer that stock if not equal to. (Anyone with more experience in this area please chime in if I'm wrong) Not sure if yours will have 18" or 19" wheels, but 18's would be best for ride comfort and some beefy Michelin tires to help absorb some more of the road. Other than that if you think it feels more firm that it should, have the shocks checked out, depending on age and mileage they may be due for replacement, if so, OEM is still probably the softest out there. Lastly there may be some helpful forums on myg37.com to check out. Otherwise, welcome to #TeamG37 !

Is it better to get a g37x or g37s? Which one drives better/handles, reliability and is the overall better model? Thinking about getting one myself don’t know if I want AWD or RWD and is there really a big difference between the sport model and the base?
@GQ37official Жыл бұрын
It depends if you NEED awd. If you don't live in a snow state and don't need it then get a G37s. The AWD is a lot heavier and slower (in this case the extra traction isn't a benefit without more power) Not sure if you're looking at sedan or coupe, ironically sedan is a little lighter than coupe, but in either model the x AWD is heavier and unless you need it I wouldn't get it. Due to the AWD system after market parts are limited as some things don't fit (exhaust and suspension). The S model is a good buy if it's in the budget, akebono brakes, upgraded stereo, better seats, some came with a sport muffler (it was a dealer option) no up difference but definitely good creature comforts. Hope that helps
@sinkabistrip8813 Жыл бұрын
@@GQ37official thanks bro that definitely did help a little bit. I’m not in a snow state but it does rain a lot here I was under the impression that AWD cars are faster and better overall. So would you recommend AWD or RWD?
@GQ37official Жыл бұрын
@@sinkabistrip8813 definitely go rear wheel drive. It rains a lot here in Florida and I've never had any issues with it. AWD is beneficial in high horsepower cars that need the traction like a GTR if you're not going to twin turbo your G37 then I will drive is just extra weight.

They're also applicable to the 2007-2008 G35 sedan as well as it has the same bones as the G37 sedan. I have links in the description for the parts that are sedan specific such as diode dynamics turn signal mods, carbon fiber spoiler etc. If you have an older G35 many of the mods would be applicable, but you'd have to get them specific to your year. Such as Diode Dynamics makes the turn signal mod for the first gen G35, the shift knob would still work, you can get the floor mats, but will need them specific to your bodystyle etc.

Great video mate ! What is your opinion on the q50 red sport, im really interested but I want to know what your take on that car is. Thanks
@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
Thanks man I appreciate it. all in all the red sport is a pretty good buy I may do a video sometime on why I chose the G37 instead of the q60 / Q50 red sport since they were available at the time. I actually prefer the q50 rs to the q60 rs. Prior to my G37 coupe I had a g37 sedan for a little bit, but it was an automatic (and the only automatic I've ever owned other than my wife's suv) and I missed having a manual so I sold it and got a g35 coupe. (Thought the the auto g37 was definitely faster) loved it until a deer hit me on my way home from work so I got the g37, but not before looking at a few alternatives such as the q50/q60 redsport. Looks are subjective and though I like the front of the q60 I don't care for the rear and certain other angles (or much of infiniti's current design language) so I like the looks of the g37 better. (I also hate that they did away with the Fx37/Qx70 as I thought it was one of the best looking SUVs on the road for any amount of money, but that's another story) That's the main reason I went with the G37. The red sport is an upgrade in pretty much every way, it definitely is faster. The steering feels a bit artificial compared to the G platform, but unless you're a purist that's not a deal breaker as the G37 is numb compared to my former Miata so 🤷♂️. Some complain about the infotainment system being a bit dated, but I don't even have an iPhone so carplay isn't something I care about, I use xm radio, bluetooth streaming and phone and I'm good! The biggest Downfall I hear about with the 3.0 turbo platform is that as reliable as the vq. However, this seems to be from people that are modifying the engine pretty heavily. since I don't have one and haven't had the experience with that I can't testify to that either way. I do wish it came with a manual, but I understand why they don't. if you notice the G37 didn't even get the Nissan's rev-match that the 370z got. Apparently manuals didn't sell as well for the Infiniti demographic. Stock for stock no doubt the g37 auto is faster than the manual 9/10 times and would be the same for the rs no. But I'm not racing and just enjoy being connected to the car so I'm holding onto my manual for a bit longer. That said, I think if you're good with those things the RS is a great buy and has a lot of potential for power! Now that's all pretty much just my opinion and not good for much but hopefully it was helpful in some way 😁

Mine is a 2012. I got the coupe cause I liked the looks. I'm a former z owner and though I'd have loved to get a gen2 nismo 370z (hence my inspiration for making my G have a similar vibe) I have kids and occasionally need to use those back seats if the wife is out with the suv. If you don't have a major use for the back seats get get the coupe while you can lol! Rear camera is a package option, look for a sport model (G37s) and you should be good to go, but if possible get a 2010+ as they made Bluetooth audio streaming on those, 08-09 was Bluetooth for phone calls only from what I understand. I’m deciding if I want a 350z HR manual or a g37 sedan auto. Which car would be the best for digs?
@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
G37 Auto sedan for the win. I'm a sucker for Manual's which is why I have a 6-speed G37 instead of a red sport which is obviously faster but I still like rowing my own gears and prefer the look of the G37 to the newer Q line (but that's a whole other and perhaps a whole other video for for another day) I love the 350Z perhaps even more than a 370 as I've owned two of them, but when it comes to automatic vs. Manual for a dig unless your manual has substantially more horsepower to compensate for the shifting speed the automatic is going to win. A Stock-for-stock G37 the automatic will be faster 9 times out of 10. The shifts are lot faster than most can do in a manual and they're consistent; transmissions are only getting better in that area. when it comes to the G37 sedan automatic vs. manual 350Z that becomes very clear assuming both are stock. (Turbo z vs. Stock G37 automatic would be another story) even the G37 sedan is faster than the coupe in some cases. Hope that helps and thanks for checking out my videos

You said you were quoted $200 for a paint job? Is this quality paint with clear coat? Where did you have this done. As far as black roof, how would that look on a four door Q50 tinted windows, sunroof, silver with 19"rims? Same question for the carbon fiber mirror covers? Would that look good with a silver car, ever have an issue with them? You h Shoudk look into the window guards, also I haven't done this yet but thinking Im not a fan of the red taillights thinking of couple shades darker, not blacked out though. Awesome video!
@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
Sasquatch Nunu - yes the $200 quote was just to paint the roof gloss black with clear coat. The owner of the body shop is a friend and has done work on at least 5 of my vehicles over the years, friends and family discount. But I decided just to go with the wrap so I wouldn't be without my car for a week so what you see on my car is a black vinyl wrap on the roof and it's held up very well. Did the same thing on my G35 previously. Holds up well if you take care of it, wash it carefully, wax it and my car is garage kept. As far as if it would look good on Silver, only you can decide that as it's personal preference. I think it looks good on most colors, but google "Silver Q50 with black roof wrap" and see for yourself. The Carbon fiber mirror caps look good on any color in my opinion and yes they've held up for the 2 years I've had them on here so far. I used a 3m type film to smoke my taillights on my previous car, thought they looked cool for awhile, but then after a couple years decided I didn't like it anymore and went to take them off, but they were baked on from the FL sun....came off in pieces and some pieces I couldn't get off at all so ended up having to get new taillights. I'm not really a fan of the films stuff anymore, the only way I'd ever do the dark taillight thing again is a custom oem quality taillight with black housing, but it'd have to be a new product and not one that someone modded (those are prone to leaks eventually) So I just decided to leave those alone... Thanks for watching!

I saw you didn’t completely cover the paint around the emblems when spraying it with the black paint, will it just peel right off if I get it on my cars paint?
@GQ37official2 жыл бұрын
Yes it's plastidip (don't do that with regular spray paint you would need to remove the emblems if it was regular spray paint) plastidip does peel off as long as you do a solid 8 coats or more. I didn't really need to tape it but it condensed the mess a little.
@SlateBlue_VQ2 жыл бұрын
@@GQ37official I’m gunna try it this weekend, do you think it would look tacky if I did my oem enkei wheels?
@GQ37official2 жыл бұрын
@@SlateBlue_VQ yea for the emblems it's not bad I just did my wife's Mazda emblems a few weeks ago. You don't have to mask off as much as I did, but probably want to do a square area of tape a few inches around it so there's not as much over spray to rub off. The thicker the coat the easier it is to peel, but the outer over spray areas you will have to rub off. As far as wheels, I'm not really a fan of plastidip on wheels. If done correctly it looks fine, but I did it before on my G35 years ago and regretted it once it started peeling and getting rock chips etc. I couldn't really touch it up, it was just looking cakes on and then because of getting hot I guess from the brakes mine baked on and didn't peel off very good and didn't pressure wash off either. I ended up getting those wheels sand blasted and professionally painted lol. So Ive never done Plasti dip wheels again 🤣 I have painted several wheels and if prepped and sanded etc they come out well and have held up just fine. I'm gonna do that on my project 350z soon. Hope that helps and good luck!

I’m about to get the g37X sedan. What’s the major difference between mine and yours? Great vid!
@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Aside from the sedan/coupe difference the X models are auto only and AWD which makes them great for northern residents with the 'snow mode' ability, but can limit the cross compatibility of some performance mods that are non X models only due to the AWD system. X models are usually about 150lbs heavier if I remember correctly, due to the AWD system. I don't believe they come standard with some of the S model features such as Akebono brakes etc, but it may have been a factory option so some of them may have it. But really no deal breakers there, still same engine and car overall. Enjoy!

@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
Really depends on your budget. If you want something that's quiet at idle and cruising (no drone) but a little more aggressive sounding and louder than stock under acceleration then I'd suggest the Invidia with burnt tips. Here's the one for the G37x sedan www.importimageracing.com/products/invidia-q300-cat-back-exhaust-dual-titanium-tips-infiniti-g35-g37-sedan-2007-2013?gclid=Cj0KCQjwoPL2BRDxARIsAEMm9y8dFGrAt-eXHsTClAFXwceSuK4_ARrMJ6gahehwUiAKtqCWnesg93saAlgeEALw_wcB If that's not in the budget then your best bet is to go custom, that's what I did. I went full custom on my exhaust, if you do that you can have a muffler shop put the blue burnt tips (or whatever kind you want) on it. It takes some experimenting, but here's what I ended up with. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXyleZx6ZpWLmZI&lc=Ugwi9Pb6Sy4yt_vjJrx4AaABAg

If you had a coupe I'd suggest the manzo for a more affordable option, I did a video on that as well as that's what I started with, but I don't know that the axleback coupe version will work for the sedan without some custom modification from a body shop. however, they can make pretty much anything fit with some custom fabrication if you take it to a muffler shop. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q56VY6h5fth_o7c

@GQ37official2 жыл бұрын
I put in K&N drop in filters instead. I've always done true CAI on my other cars and realized without going 3in intakes/ tune it's not really worth it per $. I didn't want to go through the trouble of all that so just did the drop ins as the stock intake is better than a hot air intake like I see so often. The red tubes were more for cosmetic, didn't expect that to do anything, but to my surprise the power band felt a little more linear after those. Later I did end up tuning it after my hfc and exhaust build, but it was all an experiment, just decided to go a different route with this one than my z's and other cars before it.

Question: for the steering wheel cover, after removing the actual wheel, does the leather just wrap around it or is there additional sewing involved?
@GQ37official3 жыл бұрын
yes and yes. Some videos on other cars people tuck the material into the seam with a trim removal tool, but I'm a bit OCD and mine had too much to do that and required taking the wheel off for it to look more factory. After removing the steering wheel (you have to take the whole wheel off so that you can take out the screws in the back that hold the steering wheel bezel trim on such as volume controls etc) you will place it on on there and sow the seam with the thread on the inside. Here's a video showing how to do it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rafMYZ1udqakf5o

Thanks for watching and for your comment. Product links are in the video description, including the metal volume knobs and revised off ebay link for the strut brace....yea it was $76 for the Megan strut brace at the time of posting this video, but apparently I sent too much business to ebay for the strut bars and they pretty much sold out of them, but not sure why those sellers raised their price to $700-800 if they're low on stock instead of just selling the last one or two and saying "out of stock" when they sell out like everybody else. My apologies, didn't want to be misleading, as you can understand I can't control the prices of sellers, but rest assured there are other ways to get it and I have a new link in the description. Oh and as far as the dash, yes it's custom. My previous video here on the channel discusses that as an alternative to replacing a cracked dash, check it out! -Peace

@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
hey man thanks! The 07-08 G35 sedan seems to be a bit more difficult to get aero kits and lips for...probably because it was right around the change over time for G37, where as the coupe became G37 in '08 but the sedan didn't until '09, (though it looked identical to the '08 G35 sedan on the outside) and then got a facelift for 2010 where it kept that for the remainder of the span so that's why it's easier to find them for '10+ bodystyle. That said, it's not impossible, but it's gonna be tough. Most of the one's I'm seeing are for the base model only and not the S. Here's one I found on a forum, looks like it was an OEM part, not sure if they're still making it as the thread is old, but there's an email and phone number so it may be worth checking: g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v36-2007-08/450412-2008-rear-license-plate-bracket.html I get a lot of parts off ebay, but this is one that I'd suggest looking elsewhere off ebay for as ebay is inundated with "Duraflex" junk and I would stay away from that if possible. Hope that helps!

GQ37 yes that’s is true, yuh know your G’s bro, I like that. In 07-08 is when they pulled out the Vq35HR in the sedans. So My 08 is the best and the last G35s sedan in my opinion(rare 6speed) I’ve only been finding base models from lips or those cheap ones... I also going to get the carbon trunk spoiler also! Hey Chris hru ? just a quick question, I have a G37s with out navigation. can I change my non navigation display and control to a navigation gps screen display with control if the wired harness are the same . Can this still on work with my car . Thank u
@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
It's all possible with the right amount of $$ I just don't know why anyone would want to go through the hassle and spend that kind of $$ on an outdated nav system. I have a 2012 w/ nav and rarely use it as it's severely outdated. It could be done, you'd need to locate the parts, probably ebay being the best bet. You'd need the AV NAV Radio / CD Head Unit for starts then you'd also need the nav / infotainment touch screen replacement and the control unit bezel with the buttons for nav / destination etc (sometimes you can find these with the screen still put together.) Now I can't say for certain that it would be plug and play as a non nav car may not have all the connections needed for the nav head unit since it wasn't designed for that. Perhaps someone else can chime in if they have experience with this. That's where you may need some wiring skills. So, just in case, factor that into the cost / frustration category when considering this and that fact that you'll be paying a lot of $$ for an outdated system. Now there's better solutions out there if you're wanting nav / bluetooth etc. 1) is the Tesla style radios you've probably seen but the verdicts still out on those, I think they're almost there with the tech and updates, but what I'd suggest is the Vline2 grom units that keep your screen and functionality while adding all the modern up to date apps such as google maps, spotify, etc You can check out a video here about that with links in their description kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYLSg3ydat6VfrM there's also install videos about it on youtube as well. I think that would be a much better route for the $$

Do you think $14k is too much for a 2010 G37 Convertible coupe with 88k miles on it? In the pictures it looks like it just rolled off the lot and is still stock but it's had 3 owners. I'm thinking of going to look at it, but it's 2 hours away so if it's too much, I ain't going lol.
@GQ37official4 жыл бұрын
John - yes and no. Yes, I think it's a little high, but it's probably about right for a dealership. Even though it's a vert I wouldn't pay that much for it, personally, but the funny thing about cars is that they're worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them. For example, customizing cars doesn't raise their overall worth, especially for trade in value / retail. However, a car enthusiast may see the value in tasteful mods (especially forced induction) and be willing to overpay what the true value of the car is for that etc. Last year my banker offered me a very legitimate cash offer of $15k for my 2012 which had the same kind of miles as the convertible you mentioned, at the time. Now, I thought it was a fair offer, if I had been selling my car, but I wasn't and therefore it forced me into having to decide if I wanted to. At that point I knew the person was good for it, but then I had to see if there was something out there I liked as good or better than my car for about that much or adding even $5-10k on top. I've always wanted a Porsche cayman s, but after driving a few of them I realized I hated it and not only would I rather have my G, I'd rather go back to a 350z than a cayman lol ( but that's a whole other story.) So, back to your question, it seems a bit high, but if it's at a car lot then that is to be expected. Three years ago when I bought my G there was a 2010 IPL on a lot for $26,400 68k miles. I bought my 2012 G37s a week later with 64k miles for $16,000 from a private seller, 2nd owner who had purchased it CPO. So your best deals will usually be private sellers, but if you're needing to finance then sometimes that's easier with a dealership. So while I think $12,500 would be more reasonable for a 2010 vert on the private seller market, it really depends on the condition and how much you gotta have it. Pictures only show what they want you to see. If you get there and it's even better than you expected then it may be worth it to get a clean G. (these things are getting so affordable now that lots of kid get them an trash them. Unfortunately you won't know that unless you check it out. But there's always room to negotiate so just cause they're asking $14k doesn't mean they're going to get it. Hope that helps and sorry for the novel here.... PS Always run your own car fax on a car you're serious about, even if it's at a dealership. I've had 2 different dealerships fake a squeaky clean car fax and when i ran it the car had been totaled in another state. Good luck with your search!

You mean the sticky melted dash scenario? Yea man common problem with these, that and the cracks in the dash. Ive detailed cars for almost 20 years and nothing I've found fully gets rid of it, the material itself is compromised and melted so it's not just a residue to rub off. I did a video here on the channel a while back with a leather dash mat that covers up the stickyness and it looks pretty good. Various color stitching is available, also later when my cracks got worse on the front I had the dash recovered last year so you can find that video on the channel as well.
