First time I went surfing was in Hawaii, had a local give me a board and teach me for free. Was very epic and felt good when I actually caught my first wave. Literally one of the happiest moments of my life.

50 years surfing, and this is the best commentary of surfing I've found. And btw I had my legrope anchored to the reef at Ponta D'Ouro Mozambique in 2012. Ain't fun. Happens. Kolohe described it well. You won't believe how small that leash velcro release tab gets when you're bobbing and drowning.

Wow that is scary about the leash. I surfed in a lot of point break reefs in California and I never considered my leash getting stuck! I never thought that would happen and I never knew anybody it happened to. Good that you survived. I did always have a quick release tab though.

Lol yep, Hollywood DEFINITELY gets the surfer stereotype right! I grew up with surfers in Chile and Southern California. Then as an adult, I've hung out with surfer "communities" in Northern California, Australia and New Zealand and, their chilled attitudes, genuine excitement for "big" swells/waves, surf terminology, water etiquette, party loving personalities and ABSOLUTE HATRED for non-locals in THEIR water transcends countries, languages and ages. They are surfers!

Point break was totally not completely broke down. The actual surf scenes continuity are so wrong that made me and my friends laugh our asses off back in the days. They kinda like show a wave with two goofy footer guys, then all of sudden there are three and two of them are regular, then the wave breaks, then appears big again, then back to only to guys, then the wave change direction..... and the errors go and go. Also, at 7:24 mark Kolohe misses that the leash is on her left foot where it actually should be on the right one, because she is a regular footer. And few seconds later when she releases it, the leash is back on the right foot. And the "hang 5" dude was hanging 6 haha.
