Articulated perfectly friend. When I see her I have this feeling that I really don't want her to be subjected to the harsh ugliness of the world as she grows up. I feel I see inside her the innocence and beauty present within all of us, just tarnished and damaged to those who have been exposed grim realities. I'm not sure if that conveyed what I was trying to. I'm even less sure someone else interpretation will accurately depict the essessence of meaning floating in my psyche. Downloading thoughts from the land of divine imagination into a youtube comment section always seems to degrade the resolution... *Damn this weed is good*

It took me a while to realize how genius this song is. Just that phrase “Don’t let go [of me]”. She sings that so many different ways and each time it conveys a different emotive context. Actually at 3:17 sounds like somebody did let go and she was falling, but falling up instead of down. I can never listen to any of her songs a few times and get them. These Easter eggs take time to come out.

Fabrizio Molinari Grace gets probably as much down time as she can stand. She bores easily with too much time off. After her tour finished, she spent much of a day just quietly working on a quilt. However today, March 9th, she's in Kenya with the Starkey Foundation helping to distribute hundreds of hearing aids. You almost never see big, established stars doing this without a film crew tagging along as a publicity thing. Grace is there with her dad, and isn't doing it for the recognition, but because she's a beautiful, empathic human being who's been giving back with open hands in the 18 months since she won AGT. She's one of those rare people actually worthy of the title "Superstar."

Great song overall. But to me, as a songwriter, the amazing thing is how she put together that intial ukelele beat and layered the vocals over it. The two don't initially seem to match, and it took me a minute to catch up to it. It's unique, and really advanced for a 13 Y/O. It's the the kind of thing that seasoned song builders often just can't imagine. She's such an instinctual musician.
@kenaldri49235 жыл бұрын
She uses a similar uke pattern in "Moonlight" and "You're so Beautiful". Is it sort of a shuffle rhythm? Based on synchopation anyway. But to me these three songs really showcase Graces precocious writing skills.
@kenaldri49235 жыл бұрын
BTW Kurt, have you heard "You're so Beautiful" and "You'll get bored"? Both were performed by Grace at the slipper room in NYC but I can find no other performances or recordings online. Just search KZbin for her name and "slipper room". Anyway, what really impressed me were some chord changes that occurred in both songs near the end. Very unexpected. Jazzy. I struggle with wanting to know at all times what her contribution to a song is vs contributions from bandmates or collaborators. I suppose I don't really need to know, but then again curiousity can be hard to control.

@Kurt Johnson Yes, it truly IS amazing and very, very advanced! The ukulele groove is from the latin music and is called the Tumbao Bass figure. It's based on the famous 3-3-2 clave rhythm but only playing the second and third beat of it. The rhythms she plays and sings are at a very high level. Anyone who tries to do both at the same time with that free phrasing of the vocals, will have a hard time - even as a professional musician. Amazing Grace!! :D
