We love the program and am now doing High School 2. That being said, the writing portion isn’t structured enough for my teen so we use Essentials in Writing instead. As a busy mom, I wish there was more information in the teacher answer key. It often says “answers may vary.” Not sure how to discern if he’s fully understanding the books without reading them myself.

Thank you so much for making high school content! My daughter is in 8th grade and my son in 6th, so I have been following you for a while and taking many of your recommendations! I am also anxious to hear what you think of Shormann Math once you all have completed a year. We are using TT Algebra I right now for both kids with me pretty involved and they are doing well. But, I’m open to other methods, too. Again, thank you!!

Well. My kids are flipped. Son in 8th, daughter in 6th but going into this school year. My son is using TT right now, but am unsure if he'll be keeping that as I did not love it last year. If I cannot tweak it, I may be looking elsewhere. My daughter is using tgtb math. She loves it. She aced it last year. I barely did anything at all except grade it.

My daughter loves how flexible this is. With her crazy sports schedule she loves that she can do it for like 2 hours a few times a week and then 30 minutes other days. The first unit she struggled to find her own way to make it fit. Just like with her Dive math and science she will some days do 2 lessons a day and others one. She just knows she has to have 5 done by Christmas so we look at the Calendar and have it up for her.

My daughter is in 8th grade now so I need to start looking into what we will be using for high school next year. Have you done a look-inside video on this course? I may have missed it but I would love to see inside it. Waiting to hear what your opinions are on Shormann math too, as I'm not thrilled with Teaching Textbooks at this level. Don't get me wrong, it's been fantastic and we love it! Just not the best fit for us getting into these higher levels. Loving the high school content, Ashlee! It's beyond helpful!

Thank you for sharing! My son is doing HS 1 as well. He needs a bit more guidance, as he does not love it as your daughter does 😅. But he is enjoying the books. I have him do the reading for a couple days before starting the unit, then he does the book work. On the day he does the art project, he reviews the course book to study for the unit check. I totally didn’t even realize there were unit checks until after unit 3! I think I only realized it as I was correcting one of the units and saw the unit checks in the pdf and was like what?? So I obviously didn’t read through the instructions thoroughly. 😅 We are on unit 7 now because we started in the summer, so he will definitely do an honors study, probably Little Men first. I do love it overall, it just takes some adjustment when you’re used to the format of the younger grades. I am guiding him as far as timing this year, but next year I’ll have him pace himself.😄

My oldest is as old as your youngest, so we have a few more years until we reach high school. That doesn’t stop me from researching for the future though! My 9th grade daughter is using this curriculum for her Language Arts and it’s going really well! I agree about how easy it is to grade it and I do the same thing with waiting to check her work until the very end of the unit. She is also going through the work faster than I thought so we will prob turn it into an honor’s course with the extra book study as well😊

This is our first year homeschooling. My son is in 9th grade and is doing this same program. I have mixed feelings about it. He doesn't like this subject in general but, he HATES the paintings and all of the map tracings as well as all of the poets and artist subject matter. :/ He is still doing the work but definitely doesn't care for the books that go along with this course. I don't know if this is because this program just isn't a good fit for him or if it's just alot if different material than he is use to. On the subject of grading. He is on unit four and I have kept putting off grading the units because I was overwhelmed by it. Lol

I’m aware. Thankyou. A book study is an additional college level study of literature. Thus earning her the honors credit.
