Hi Grace! Great video, thanks, daodi i never thought about what wait no daodao ;) You know? There are few or no videos explaining simplification rules, or how to learn to read traditionl if you already know simplified, or how to read simplified, if you already know traditional . maybe make such a video, see if it gets views, and if so you've a topic you can work? I would just star with 简化的偏胖 see if that goes anwywhere and if it does then the other rules and if that goes far individual characters. I've seen more videos comparing C-J-K than simplification so maybe the market for kanji to hanzi and hanzi to kanji is bigger / more lucrative? but in english at least no one is doing simplification rules. Great video 谢谢老师!加油!

@@QuizmasterLaw Chinese character simplification began in the 1950s as part of a larger effort by the Chinese government to increase literacy rates and promote the use of Mandarin as the official language. This effort involved the creation of a simplified character system, which replaced many complex traditional characters with simplified forms that were easier to read and write. Over time, the simplified character system became more widely adopted in mainland China, while traditional characters continued to be used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other regions.

One that I use a lot when ordering food from somewhere like a stand in a night market and they ask if you want sauce you can use "一点点" which means "a little bit" but emphasizes you really want a very small amount. I used this when eating a meat stick that came with sriracha sauce.

Thanks so much for your videos! They are very helpful! Not only am I learning Chinese, I help many Chinese people learn English. I have a tiny tip that will help you with pronunciation. When you say a word like "able" or "people," be sure to touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top teeth. This will give you a more native English sound. 💖

有時候重複字不一定是同樣的意思,例如看to look變成看看時可以是to look、take a look,也可以是consider about it ,我再看看可以是I will take a look or I will consider about it。 或是用來當修飾,例如想想看、想看看~

Thank you for the video, it's very helpful. I have a question about the pronunciation of the "R" sound in Chinese. At 8:49 you said 人ʐɛn 人人ʐɛnʐɛn 🡢人ɾɛn 🡠 人人ʐɛnʐɛn and native Chinese speakers mix a lot ɾ and ʐ. In my native language, these are two very different sounds, so I'm very confused about it. Which sound should I use? Can you hear any differences between them? Does it matter which version I say? Maybe one version sounds more elegant, for example?
@__zwischen__
@__zwischen__ Жыл бұрын
I think the rule of thumb is to pronounce it as ʐ when emphasizing or at word starts, and ɹ elsewhere. If you don’t move your tongue as near to the top of your mouth, ʐ (the sibilant) is kind of weaken to ɹ (the approximant). So you can think of latter as a lay-back version of the former. Some people tends to pronounce all r’s with little sibilant sounds, while others may prefer to fully enunciate most of them. Edit: I’m only a language enthusiast, and are only answering based on my experience and not any particular papers or research, so please take this with a grain of salt.

I really love your videos, and this video was so helpful! I was wondering about something I saw where you have a duplicate verb and then 看 (like 试试看 or 想想看). I'm a bit confused on this, so any insight would help! Thanks!
@ispeakmandarin
@ispeakmandarin Жыл бұрын
试试看 and 想想看, the key is 试试 and 想想 respectively. 试试看 means you try to do something to see if you can do it. 想想看 means you think about something to see if you can find an answer. So the character 看 in both 试试看 and 想想看 doesn't mean to see,to look,to watch, it's not about eyes, it just means you do something first, then you will know what happens

can 来来来 be included with the double duplication such as 聊聊天 等等? i know tones get dropped when duplicated for the second word liao2 liao tian1. does that also apply to when people are being polite and they say: 来来来 do they get pronounced lai2 lai2 lai or is there no rules for this type of duplication? i heard that from a tv show i was watching somebody was being walked to the door and the lady said: 来来来 but it was very fast and i only caught a slight second tone on the first lai2.

Good, you observed the connection between 从 and 人人. The character 从 has many meanings for verb form and noun form. Here are the meanings of 从 that are about 人人 you mentioned: a person follows(go after) someone;a person does what someone says In these contexts, a person do things depends on the other one, so two characters 人 are put together, that‘s how 从 came from 人人
