That was the del amo shopping center at Christmas time in 1983. I remember it well because I was there just before you went on with your son.

Thank you Rorion, this was really good. What's the chance of writing a book? You, Rickson, if something's disagreed, tell both ways. Just havin' fun looks good, 😉.

I don't know if you're aware of it but I wrote a book about jiu-jitsu and the Gracie family. It's called Worth defending and it's available and Amazon. It has a 189 5 star reviews...

Way to go 😉! Rorion is a mean one, 😉. It'd be good if he wrote about details of JJ, then about experience when things go from play to serious. If all of us could have joined him years ago, he's a wealth of knowledge in Jiu Jitsu and real world. But, I've wondered how him or Rickson would do going fishing in the south, 😉! Fish fry on bank, 😉. Eitheir would have many tales to tell. Hopefully, just teach good guys. The moves are excellent!

People talk badly about rorion saying stuff like his cousins rolls and carley are far better than him but he seems to have decent skills.
@dimaokolovych1188 Жыл бұрын
Rorion himself says that he prides himself on being the best teacher in the family, not the best fighter. He says Rolls was always better than him. Rorion was never very competitive and was never concerned with winning

i trained with Rorion briefly in around 1994 and he was probably the absolute best BJJ instructor I have ever encountered for 20 years. But I the classical knife defenses in GJJ - they are terrible.

@@turntablesrockmyworld9315I agree with you about the weapons defense techniques in GJJ. Not something I would ever try. But what about the rest of the stand up self defense techniques. In your experience do those techniques work in a real world scenario?
@turntablesrockmyworld93158 ай бұрын
@@ARCJ78 Yes, some of them. Some are just lame traditional techniques. For context, prior to BJJ I studied Judo in the late 1980s prior to BJJ in the early 1990s. I think BJJ has the best standing headlock escapes I have seen, a few grab escapes , against wall, clinch defense position with arm grab, and entering to clinch of punches.

BJJ is not Brazilian it was being done long before them they just brought back the ground aspect into judo basically bringing back jujutsu which is where judo came from the sport jujutsu on the other hand in Brazil can definitely be Brazilian since that evolved alot in the 80s 90s era
