It’s almost as though the FBI & Police are _PROVING_ that there’s *STILL A NEED IN 2022* for people to understand *BLACK LIVES MATTER* -m🚫re- _THE SAME_ *as other races❣️* Mitch McConnell as quoted in FORBES magazine January 21, 2022: “The concern is misplaced because if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage *as Americans.”* *It’s heartbreaking but it’s obvious… his poor mother is ABSOLUTELY correct.*

unless youre really into true crime, we hardly hear about american cases unless they're shocking or sensational. I think theres a simple reason for that, we're across the other side of the world and it reaches a certain point where theres not much you can do. people go missing in america all the time, if we sat down and listen to every single case then you'll be there for ages.

Coming from a Speech Pathologist: I don’t believe he just went missing. You just don’t miss class as a SLP grad student. You will be missing so much instruction and clinicals. Jelani was aware of his expectations and how demanding SLP grad school is. There’s no way he’d sacrifice this. This case hits close to home. I just can't imagine a man like this has any enemies. He seems so genuine and kind, and if he's anything like his mother and family this is definitely true. I have to give it to that Newsy anchor for letting Carmen speak and not interrupting her or steering the conversation. He seemed really focused and intentional in letting her say what she needed to, he only spoke when he couldn't believe how she was being treated, and he didn't try to make her sugarcoat it or move from the topic to "save face". We need more anchors/reporters like that who are sympathetic to the families and willing to give them platforms - much like Kendall is doing - to help move these cases along and help find missing people. I am a Bloomington native. Im just astonished that they've already determined Brian laundry committed suicide just from examining his bones but yet they can't find out how jelani died, when he had more of a corpse to examine and died before Brian. Both of their corpses had been submerged in water

i get what youre saying but not all causes of death are even visible? brian supposedly died by gunshot wound to the head which is kind of hard to miss. Jelani may have passed from something either not visible on his body or possibly even has so many injuries its hard to determine what exactly is the cause of death. just speculating though edit: i wrote this comment before i finished i didnt know Jelani had autopsies performed yet but still. Had brian not died how he did they likely couldnt have confirmed his cause of death;but a bullet hole in his skull is pretty damning, as well as his notebook which may have also confirmed suicide.

I think the issue is that different wounds cause different injuries. For example- gun shot wound to the head will show a specific damage to the skull but the severing of an artery might not show any bone damage. Depending upon the manner of death and the state of the remains the cause of death might not be apparent.

I can't imagine how this is not being treated as a crime. We have a missing person who was reported by people OUTSIDE OF THE FAMILY as suspicious! That says a lot. We have a car obviously "ditched'. We have a deceased person. And we have items of value separated from the owner. There has got to be more video footage of this young man and his vehicle on that day. Where is the video of him exiting the dispensary? Was he approached outside of it? Is there video of the car passing the businesses near the dispensary? Carjacking/robbery just rings loud in my mind. Maybe someone that knew him, maybe a total stranger. Definitely appears suspicious and not suicidal. Police SHOULD always investigate it as criminal activity initially until the evidence determines it is not. Same as Marshal Iwasaa case. Missing man, ditched vehicle which was torched. Police appear to not investigate as criminal because it could be deliberate actions. How about they prove that through investigation?!?! Then precious evidence and time will not be lost!

The few times I’ve had to wait a few days for like test results or something was very hard for me. I could not possibly imagine how helpless and anxious his family felt those 3 whole weeks with 0 updates ☹️ not knowing whether or not he was gone. The injustice his mother experienced with that coroner infuriates me this situation is just so heart shattering.

It is clear that in the mind of the media, and police; not all lives are equal. Gabby was a was an up and coming KZbinr traveling in a van for adventure. Jelani was a graduate student in an extremely competitive field. Only one of them was deemed important enough to find. It’s great that Gabby got the coverage that she did but it is so devastating that Jelani was not afforded the same opportunity. There really should be a clear protocol for missing persons and it should be illegal to have disproportionate coverage in the media.

I love the way you discuss these cases and get them out there. Recently, a young woman in Charlotte, NC went missing. It would be cool if you could do a video on her. I haven't seen much about her disappearance getting out there. Her name is Denee Rawls. I thought of you and your reach as soon as I learned about the case but I don't know if there's much information out there for you to make video. Figured it wouldn't hurt to make you aware of it anyways.

BPD is notorious for making their minds up and not doing any further research. i am not at all surprised that they're handling this the way they are. there is NO REASON that he should've been in fucking PERU ILLINOIS!! It means a town in which only white people live, and black people were not allowed there (literally based on official town law) after sundown. If anyone found a black person in town after sundown, they may kill them. Often they would be lynched. Idk if Peru was a sundown town, but many rural towns were up until shockingly recently, like the 1960s.

Black men and indigenous women are the number one missing persons and LITTLE TO NOTHING is reported or done to help these families. Even Gabby Peteto’s family is asking law enforcement and media to cover All missing persons like they did for Gabby!!! Just so sad in this day and age that families have to do it themselves very little cooperation. Thank you!! Kendall for all you do for ALL true crime impacted families. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

I believe police do have to explore that as a possibility for anyone over the age of 18. No parents want to admit it, but it’s always possible that their adult children (especially in college which is stressful) needed a break. Legal adults have a right to walk away and not contact anyone if they choose to.
