Brian, I have an idea for a comparison, if you can pull it off: I'd love to see you attempt to put together a system where you save every buck so you can score a good local deal on a strong GPU. Like $600 budget and cram in a GTX 1080. These days, there are 2 ways to go on the used market either when building yourself or to flip. One is the good old HP Z400/ThinkStation S20 route with a Xeon W3690 from China and a strong GPU like a 1070 or 1080. You can stream, you aren't bottle necked in graphically intensive single player games and you can just upgrade to a new platform down the line. The other way is the esports build. Used B450 and 16GB 3200Mhz, then buy a new (unless you can get a good used deal) 5600X. Most eSports titles are so incredibly CPU bottlenecked, that something like a GTX 970 won't reach more than 70% performance in Fortnite (performance mode), Valorant or Rocket League. For someone who only plays games like that, buying a used HD7950, replacing thermal paste, undervolting and overclocking it nets nearly GTX 1650 performance for a fraction of the price. And that's all an eSports gamer needs, because especially kids these days love getting their 240-300 FPS (which these GPUs can easily reach if not CPU bottle necked). I've experimented with this in my local market and the single player/graphically superior builds just won't sell. I'd love to see if you can pull it off.

I think something went wrong with your math on the 3rd pc. As 1915 for the pc and 170 for Periphs So it would be 1915+170=2085 not 2250. You have likely have taken the prices of the periphs twice. So it would be around 4% saving.
@abdumuminkhan82682 жыл бұрын
Hey bitwit nice vid but I would just like to say that you didn't account for the fact that purchasing the parts seperately to build a pc that can match the performance of the used craigslist ones usually means that you have to pay shipping and taxes, which can increase cost anywhere from 10-20%,
@paulmeyer10012 жыл бұрын
True, but sellers of those parts would lose 13% for fees so you can generally get better deals locally or on Reddit. Some eBay sellers offer free shipping and eBay has a 30 day return policy, Craigslist is where you go knife battle people. What's weird for me is the ram prices, $70 for 32GB??
@abdumuminkhan82682 жыл бұрын
@@paulmeyer1001 then again you have to endure the hassle of scouring a variety of sites just for the possibility of finding a reduction in prices, which in my experience is tiresome and lengthy. Additionally, you must also consider the volatility of PC performance with similar/identical specs. In other words, for whatever reason, the build that you find on craigslist might give you significantly better performace than the one you build yourself with the same exact parts. As a semi-professional builder I run into situations like this all the time. Of course I have a bias towards buying pre-builts because I do it as a side-gig, but I still think even from an unbiased perspective, there are some benefits to buying pre-builts that bitwit didn't acknowledge

i love how youtubers us used ebay prices that like 18 people most likely bought from not the 500 gpu's of that model people bought for msrp...

How is 1915+170 a total of 2255?! I guess you added total periphs also to the SUM
@albieclementi2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I came to the comments to say the same thing! The total should be $2085, not $2255.

In the pricing you forgot about the cost of postage. Its 1 price, usually collection from a single person vs multiple places of sale, different postage costs and so many places of failure
@KalebSDay2 жыл бұрын
Ah, yeah tax will eat you up even more. I would have forgotten to include that in my pricing as well if one was to buy parts new. Also as you mentioned, the shipping cost price when getting used. Main way to circumvent all that tax/shipping is to do the in person meet ups to trade, would take a bit more work/travel for those odd ball components though.

@@KalebSDay then the cost of all the fuel, I think Kyle was a bit unfair in his grades of the sales, it's 1 collection, 1 price

I believe most of these are pick up, since he said at the beginning of the video that he looked for computers in his area.

At 4:07 I was curious how the CPU was only $180 considering I got an i7 8700k for $300 but at 8:58 you showed my processor for $200. Edit: funny how a lot of these list the same processor as well, but it makes sense as one of those users. For the price and the performance, I think it’s very balanced and good if you play games that aren’t extremely resource intensive

You used the discord channel join sound or something very similar to that for your price reveals and man did that throw me for a loop.

You have to keep in mind that they should charge a bit more so they’re making profit (labour, etc.)

That’s if they build em theirselves… which is what I wanna get into 🤧

Case prices can get stupid on eBay. It's because of the absurd cost of shipping them that you really won't find a great deal on them. I bought a Define R6 a couple years ago and I spent about $90 on it and they wouldn't negotiate any lower because of shipping. Still better than it was new, though.

Reminder that some of the parts could be broken and you will probably get mugged in an alley when trying to meetup.

Would you/should you factor in the cost of "labor" as In the PC is fully built and functional rather then just a pile of parts so it cost a little more because I had to put the time you (the customer) doesn't have to? Obviously depending on the need to have that service

If you are getting any percent off and you are getting a full working computer I would say thats at least an A-. Theres something to be said for knowing that the whole system works together in its current configuration instead of grabbing parts from everywhere

What I'd ideally do is have Used Price *Ebay* Sellers Asking Price *Craigslist* Price of New Component (If Possible) Because sometimes the price of a used component, isnt very far off from retail price (Depending on where you're located) - and would rather advocate buying new in some cases

I don't think seeing you turn a profit would be that entertaining considering you presumably sit on a mountain of pc parts, but you could always do the classic trade series. Seeing you buy/sell/trade used pc parts from say a stick of ram to a 3090 rig could be a long and entertaining series 🤷♂
@Jeffmorgan832 жыл бұрын
Basically, you remove the cost of the inflated graphics card and ask yourself if the other components are worth the remaining $100 or $200
