Graham wrote Fr Ted in the mid 1990's at a time in Ireland when the country was getting out from under the thumb of the clergy, its stranglehold on society and all its many oppressive practices.... He poked many holes in lots of sacred cows and so much of the ridiculousness of the previous 7 decades was made light of in his excellent comedy writing. Ted is one thing to a British audience, but it's an institution in Ireland, a crossroads moment when we could at last laugh at ourselves. For this reason, I'll always back Graham in whatever he does. Whatever he does he does it with truth and conviction.

Graham Linehan lost his comedy career because he couldn't stop arguing with people on Twitter over one of the most in-vogue culture war topics. He completely lost his mind as well for a time, tweeting every few minutes or so, as well as doing stuff like making a profile on a lesbian dating site as some kind of a trump point about gender identity. This was a man in his fifties with a wife and kids (at the time), btw. It's not that I don't agree with some of the criticisms that Linehan has, but did anyone ever hear about that joke of arguing on the Internet? It's like the Special Olympics - no matter who wins, they're still retarded. It's just not a good forum for that kind of debate. Twitter mud slinging is really only a game more than a way to have a proper conversation, and by the time it sends you into the streets with a placard, you're already too radicalised. Ultimately, this issue will get sorted in one way or another due to certain practical concerns it raises that mess with cash flows (i.e. professional sports), not because Linehan 'destroyed' some 20 year old on Twitter one time. Sadly, Linehan just couldn't let it go, and it's now all he has. Stay outta the rabbit holes.

If you read this Graham I want you to know that I am so grateful to you for standing up for women's rights, and the safety of our children and young adults. Thank you for having a backbone and speaking truth about the insanity of what is clearly being forced onto society by the morally corrupt. Yet another win for the pharmaceutical companies. Sickness and surgical procedures keep the profit machine rolling... and people don't see the madness and damage. What really struck me in this interview is your love and concern not only for women, but for those who are transitioning. The irony of you being attacked and cancelled for your opinions on this subject, down to earth concern for those who ARE actually Trans...I had no idea these poor souls are being subjected to physical butchery, osteoporosis etc, and God only knows what levels of pain and distress from possible lifetime of ongoing procedures. It disgusts me. Oh my God, it is sickening. My heart breaks for the kinds of physical and of course mental-emotional damage these medical procedures will cause ongoing throughout the person's life...Thank you for not compromising your integrity and morality as a good decent human being. You are so strong. I always loved your comedy (done stand up and comedy acting myself and a huge believer in the necessity of the jester archetype, my passion for comedy and it's power..). As my comedy mentor once said to me when I was performing in London years ago "Don't let the b******s win!" I offer these words to you. I think of comedy often and miss writing and performing so much... I am considering making a return and picking up my pen again.... I never understood what my mentor meant, but I always remembered it, and now it feels more important than ever. Comedy is powerful, much more so than people realise. . We must not allow our art to be cancelled, censored or silenced. Nor our artists. You are such an inspiration, and I thank God for people like you in the world that don't bow to the bullies. You have my utmost respect, and please know the spineless worms that never stood by you, and abandoned you to save their own skins, are not worthy of your time, attention or focus. You were too good for them, too honest, too moral. Their shame. Their loss. Oh how shallow their existence must be!! You the other hand are connected with your soul, and are fulfilling your purpose. Love you! Don't let the b******s win!! A true artist and a great man. Remember, the darker the tunnel, the brighter the light on the other side. Can't wait to read your book. I'm a big fan of Graham's work and consider myself lucky to have grown up with it. I have no doubt we might disagree on subjects and I might even get offended by some of his thoughts and vice versa but one thing I cannot stand is people who actively try and stop that person from earning a living. It's bullying. Roy Chubby Brown a comedian I personally detest as he's a hack who just tells stock working class jokes that are eerily similar to Jim Davidsons and Jethro (almost as if they have the same writer) but when some of his bookings started to get rejected by the theatre owners due to pressure from groups who found him offensive I found myself leaping to his defence. He has the right to earn a living. When it comes to free speech you are either with or against it. There are no exceptions and I will never side with a group of people who think forcing someone to become destitute because they said something they don't agree with is a recipe for a toxic society with essentially a mob rule and anyone going against the grain will get ostracised and for comedy that's a probable death sentence in the next few decades

Graham as a comedian is inspiring, but his line on women's rights is harmful & it's sad that he holds onto it so tightly. And he's sharing information that isn't correct - or are half-truths. I am a woman. I do not feel my rights are harmed by trans people. I still don't understand how my rights as a woman are diminished by the existence of trans people. I would much rather those who are trans have gender-affirming care, counselling & all the information that is necessary (including all medical risks involved) to then make an informed decision. Most of the time, those who choose to medically transition do so knowing those risks & knowing that they are preferable over living life as they are. Let's put our energies into support rather than ostracising trans people & their families. Osteoporosis (a higher risk in trans people but not a guaranteed condition) is better than suicide. People feeling comfortable in their own bodies is better than suicide.

He could have let go of it. I don't think tweeting or re-tweeting posts of a picture of a trans woman with 'bloke' stamped across it does him or his arguments any good at all, it just makes him look like a nasty arsehole. A few things: 1) 45:55 "A recipe for a miserable life" seems to be something graham has perfected. 2) I've been in spaces where people have announced their pronouns, and when someone said "I'm Steve" rather than 'he/him' or whatever nothing happened. It was fine. No one cared. 3) It's important to do some research before talking about Trans issues. The history is very interesting. We're at a moment where the rights activists definitely do go overboard, but the reality of trans people existing since time immemorial is clear. We're past this childish notion that they're just pretending, or are mentally ill, or are all predators. Imaging saying the same thing about all gay people, or all black people, or all Irish people. It's the same thing. 4) Grahams career wasn't destroyed by activists, he make a conscious decision to shift his career from comedy writer to activist, and probably didn't realize that activism doesn't pay the bills.

I had a quick look, and he posted about it every day nearly for years. He posted about it on Christmas day. Love Father Ted, but I found Graham’s online persona obnoxious. However, seeing his eyes opened by his own cancellation I now find him to be an important voice in this whole gender nonsense. I also have upmost respect for him since he publicly apologised to someone who had been cancelled prior to him and who he didn’t support at the time, going as far as admitting he had been wrong, which takes real balls. I have seen a number of interviews with him now and he comes across as a very funny, normal bloke. I was wrong about him. Great interview, thanks. I was always on the left, but now i am politically homeless. I hate all the conversations surrounding this - there is so much Bias. There are things a disagree with in this video - but my main issue is this fake vicitimisation from accountability - "all I am doing" is protecting women - so why are you putting so much time and effort into 0.56% of the population?? Not the 25% of women in abusive relationships, or the lobbying of anti-abortionists? "all I am doing" is safeguarding children - so why are we not talking about the 41% of children in homes with domestic abuse or the 29% of children in poverty. etc. etc. etc. Using bad faith arguments to support your reasoning of why "we care so much about the trans conversation" shows how little you actually care about anyones well being.

Graham's fans will always love him. ALWAYS. I am a parent of a kid questioning whether she is trans. I tell her I don't care what you are, I care WHO you are. I am very proud of her as she is a terrific person but we have very real discussions about the physical and mental health dangers of transitioning, the fact that she can be accepted as a butch gay female if she wants to be, that's fine too, I've informed her gently of what social contagion is, just to be aware of it and to help her have a big picture view of her options. She honestly couldn't give a crap about pronouns, being "dead-named" and is wise beyond her years about not being offended every five minutes. Maybe this is because she is an awesome, balanced, empathetic and intelligent kid anyway, maybe it's because we DO have unguarded, open, non-judgemental discussions about it, or maybe because she feels loved and accepted she doesn't feel the need to kick off about it or make it a massive issue. She has always had a brilliant sense of humour and this, for me, tends to denote intelligence in a person, particularly emotional intelligence. The antithesis of this seems to be the unswervingly opinionated. We're giving her time and space to figure it out for herself. I know every parent's situation is different but for us, having an autistic member of the family has given our situation perspective. You can't expect everyone to say the exact, most recently agreed upon politically correct things or never cause any offence, whatever minority you class yourself as there will be another with their own needs and it's all about empathy and compassion, love, acceptance and a sense of humour. Things feel Cromwellian right now, but it is human nature to laugh and I'm looking forward to the inevitable restoration of the jester-king. Much love and support for all sufferers of any dysphoria and I hope that laughter can help your situation xx
