It's impressive how these freight trains can move very fast even in snowstorms. Great footage!

Hey PNW man that was another awesome video, my friend, watching those trains come out of that snow like that but anyway, my friend you try to stay warm out there you and your dog and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one buddy

The snow adds to the video, but you must've got soaked being out there. Thanx for including the defect detector and scanner chatter. Also, the deer over here do that too. They aren't scared of trains.
@PacificNWRailfan11 күн бұрын
Thank you squibrail! Actually wasn't too bad. Yea there's a lot of deer that misjudge the train and don't make it, but you're correct, they aren't scared of them! Thanks for watching my friend!

Another awesome set of catches in the snow! The ACe duo leading that last grain train was nice. An ACe notching up (my opinion) is one of the best, then to add the dear casually crossing the track. Have a great weekend.

It must be exhilarating capturing these freight trains, start off wide angle, when they get right on top of you, the raw power 🔋, speed and size of the carriages/ tankers, you must be able to feel that, awesome video 📹 brilliant wintery snow ❄️ captures

As always another great video Dave. That is the first time I have ever herd a defect detector say train too slow. Thanks again and have a great weekend.
@PacificNWRailfan11 күн бұрын
Thank you Tucker! Yea, if the train is going below a certain speed, the defect detector can't detect and that's the message it gives. You have a great weekend too and thanks for watching my friend!

that deer was fearless. just out of curiosity, what size crew would these trains typically carry? many thanks for all your posts, they're great.
@PacificNWRailfan11 күн бұрын
You're very welcome Jim, and thank you! They aren't too smart, there's 5 dead deer in a 1 mile stretch! The train crews are only two, the engineer and the conductor. The engineer's responsibility is driving the train while the conductor is in charge of the train. Thanks for watching my friend!
@timmyfrierson268411 күн бұрын
@@PacificNWRailfan yeah Dave some of those young conductors even though they are the boss of the train they try to tell those older engineers what they can and can’t do and it don’t go over too good because I know down here where I live in Pearl River Louisiana, I know just about all the engineers and conductors that run from Meridian Mississippi to New Orleans, Louisiana and they’re always having problems with that because that engineer does not have to move that train if he thinks something is not safe

Great stuff ye hearty soul. Interesting that the oil cans got a stop signal- on the mainline with no eastbound meet - ain’t supposed to happen with “planner” software. If the DS overrides the computer they get a visit with the Chief as stopping/starting a train costs $$$. Also then delayed the following train. IT folks will tell it’s not their machine and the railway moves again. What fun! Be careful out there-your closeness to the tracks concerns me a little. Stay warm 🥶
@PacificNWRailfan11 күн бұрын
Thank you PCBill0622 ! They had a broken rail, earlier, and this is the backup of trains. They were running them less than ten minutes apart and for some reason the oil train was catching up to the grainer, so they held the oil train. I'm careful when out chasing trains. I never turn my back on one. I know if the train derails, I'm going to be in a world of hurt, but then again, I probably take more of a risk driving my car down the highway to go video train. Thanks for watching my friend!
