Great video! How do you recommend maintaining the mash temperature over the 30 minutes for your samples?

I do not worry about it since I am not making a beer out of the wort. I am just trying to get the flavors of the grain. Cheers!

Great video! I ran across the AHA video, and it's a bit too short. Really appreciate it. I think we're going to give this a try.

We're looking forward to trying this out at the Joplin Homebrew Club meeting tonight! We have six grains picked out, and are shooting for a growler-full of each "tea".

Why such a high mash temp recommendation?

Trying to extract as much flavor as possible. Since we are not making beer from it no worries. Cheers!

is the 90 minute boil for pilsner really that important? i thought that myth was busted.

NO IT IS NOT A MYTH! I know some content creators are trying to debunk all the known brewing rules, however, the amount of DMS that is real. I am working on some videos on how to eliminate off-flavors in homebrewing. Cheers!

and many have done the se thing without dms, atleast on a 5 gal homebrew level. might be different on bigger systems.

I would say no. The smaller batch when brewing has the same DMS conversion. I would say try it yourself, I know when we did it at our homebrew club there was a remarkable difference. The 60 min boil tasted like Rolling Rock, and the 90 min boil tasted more like traditional pils. Cheers

hm. might alsobe systemdependent. ive been using pils for my pale ales and ipas a while and not noticing anything. might be brand dependent also. try same malt with different brand? for science! cheers!

May I recommend reading this: brulosophy.com/2015/09/14/boil-length-pt-2-pilsner-malt-exbeeriment-results/ and this (with lab results on DMS quantities): brulosophy.com/2015/10/08/update-lab-data-on-pils-malt-boil-length-exbeeriment/ I do not know what to believe now!
