I agree with your sentiments on this camera. After using around 20 different cameras over the last 40 years, I finally purchased an X2D, and after 6 months, I love it more than ever. Paired with the XCD 35-75 and a brace of R-Mount Leica and M-Mount Voigtlander lenses, this kit might keep me satisfied for the next 10+ years! Its colour and resolving power are next level. Love the shack+windy track shot at 12:05 and the clever composition at 16:08! Love the LS400, too. Thanks for sparing us the splanter-paint image.

“At this point I was wondering if I was somehow getting lucky with these shots, or if it was somehow the camera” is a fantastic point. Film or digital, all that matters is that it gets you out shooting. Some equipment can inspire, some can bore. I know personally I took more awesome photos in the first 6 months of switching to Fuji than I took over the previous 4 years of not taking out my canon because it didn’t inspire. Like always Jason 11/10 goodest photos I guess.

A lot of gear focused KZbin content feels so forced, often with pretty mediocre photos that fail to display much creativity or the gear's capabilities. What I always appreciate is that Jason sticks to his process, the camera kind of feels secondary for the most part, the ability to adapt to different tools shouldn't be underestimated. Oh yeah and some of those shots were above average, you might have a future in this biz!

Finally this awesome photography instrument is in the hands of someone who knows how to make pictures not just taking them. The best video I’ve seen so far about the X2D which I don’t own myself but looking forward to make the switch hopefully soon. I’m a Leica shooter and have heard lots of talk about the Leica look which to my eyes and experience do exist better to say, used to exist with the Kodak sensor generation of Leicas not the new ones. With Hasselblad it’s a different story, I can now pick a hasselblad shot without looking to the exit data and I guess right 90 % of the time.

Very enjoyable. I've been shooting a GFX 100II for almost a year and have been very pleased. That's not to say I don't admire those that choose to stick to film. I've gone out with a friend that owns an X2d a few times and we swapped cameras back and forth. We both agree that you just can't go wrong with either option. For me, the Fuji wins based on cost alone but I also always use the Tilt Viewfinder attachment which brings more ergonomic comforts. (big nose club)

I feel this same way about the GFX 50R. With a really simple menu system, actual dials and not a lot of video stuff it gives me a lot more similar feeling to shooting with my Pentax 67. Shooting a manual focus lens, also seems to keep me focused on thinking about the image, and composition instead of just rapid firing.

I've owned a Hasselblad X1DII, by far these cameras are made for art (no limits). With these camera's there is no need to talk about technical details because the way they're engineered is more film like than a conventional digital camera. From the color calibration, to the lenses and the design are made in a symbiotic way.

13:22 wrong actually. The cameras used in the S32C aerial reconnaissance planes had stabilization on film. It was a bit more primitive but it worked more or less the same. By moving the film plane as the image was exposed to compensate for movements. It however did not sense the movements of the aircraft to do this, the film plane moved at a fixed speed and it was up to the pilot to keep the plane at a predetermined speed and in a +4G turn over the target for the stabilization to match up with the plane's movemnts.
