whats the difference blw i had been there and i went there..n cn i say i worked in a company for 5 years or had been worked which one is correct??pls do help sir
@praveennemagoudar34428 жыл бұрын
1) I had been there (it's present perfect tense) we use present perfect -->when we don't know the specific time or time is not important.(indefinite or unspecified time). Ex: i have seen that movie. -->telling experiences. Ex: i have been to Thailand. -->Unfinished action continued from the past until now. Ex: he has been since 9 am. -->Recent experiences that affect the present. Ex: he has broken his leg. Here present effect is he cant play today's football match. I went there is not correct. I went there yesterday is correct. Use yesterday,last week,last month, five mines ago, five months ago in simple past tense. Note: Remember we always use simple past with specific time.(when) 2)I worked in a company for 5 years is correct( simple past) . here now u r no longer working in that company. Note: Remember that past perfect is older action that simple past in terms of time . Ex: When I got home yesterday, my roommate had already cooked dinner. Please correct me if i am wrong. Thank you

On Sunday , I went there and enjoyed with him a lot. Here it correct ...but only ' On Sunday I went there ' is incorrect. 'On sunday, I had been there.' is correct but 'On Sunday, I had been there and enjoyed with him a lot. ' is in correct.

In the case of "i was made" or "you were born" what is happening? because you have subject plus to be verb plus verb in past tense. any grammar explanations? thks!
@GrammarGurus8 жыл бұрын
+Rafael Luna that is called passive voice and it is describing something in the past tense but it is saying that you are not the one doing the action. For example, with 'I was made' you are not saying that you made something but rather that someone or something made you. With passive voice we can often add 'by' to tell who or what is really doing the actual action. 'I was made by Zeus' would be an example. This is still past tense but also in the passive voice. The way to identify the tense in passive voice is to look at the verb to be, in this case 'was'. Another example, 'My bed is made every day." You'll notice that the action 'made' doesn't change its form in passive voice but the verb to be shows is that this is the present simple.

To start, I’d like to thank you for the good help. My question is you mentioned in the video we can use for, I know that we can also use “for” in the P.P, so when exactly can we use “for” for Past tense and “for” for Present perfect (p.p)? Thank you

I am from India. I like your video. your way of teaching is good. But I am unable to understand use of who and what .Because you have removed both sentences sub and helping verb. You have also written .We should write what in things condition. We should not use what people about .According to me ,If Q y or no so we have to write did Q sentence. if you have to get more information that time. we should use wh family sentence

The scorpion isn’t a bug
@GrammarGurus6 жыл бұрын
That's true. But we often use 'bugs' in English to mean insects, spiders, scorpions, worms, etc even though it isn't technically correct. 'Insects' is usually used more correctly by English speakers to talk about animals with six legs. If someone says they are afraid of bugs though, don't give them a spider or a worm as a gift - they probably won't enjoy it.
