I know ppl like to say Thrawn was nerfed in the shows, but tbf he never actually lost to any personal incompetence. When you look at his greatest defeats in Rebels, they are either due to the insubordination of those under him, or the direct involvement of the Force. A captain pursuing the glory of a kill rather than keeping formation, a governor blasting an entire fuel depot to try to kill a handful of rebels, freaking space whales out of nowhere, plus Palpatine being so fixated on accessing the WBW that he invites Ezra onto Thrawn’s ship. He was never really nerfed so much as he was just dealt a bad hand, and considering how well he played that hand, I’d have been terrified to have seen what he could do with a good hand.

Absolutely! And it shows the strict adherence to orders in contrast with the Chiss Ascendancy. The Chiss may not have agreed with everything Thrawn did but they followed him out of discipline. The Empire having lack of discipline and a mindset of “glory” caused Thrawn’s losses. Not him.

I was hoping that Dave would have connected his Ahsoka series to the threat of the Grysk established in Timothy Zahn’s novels under the Disney umbrella. But Dave seems to be ignoring those canon novels and is instead aligning his story closer to the HTTE legends version of Thrawn. Both are great, but I prefer the Thrawn dynamic established in the more recent canon novels.

@@mrbrickfan34 Eli Vanto is from the Timothy Zahn novels. Spoilers to follow… He was begrudgingly assigned to Thrawn at the Imperial Officer Academy to act as his translator. He ends up becoming not only a trusted officer under Thrawn’s command but also someone Thrawn considers to be a friend. He sends Eli to serve in the Chiss navy under the command of Thrawn’s close ally Admiral Ar’alani.

I’m losing faith that Dave will ever honor or even acknowledge what Timothy Zahn established in the novels he wrote under the Disney umbrella. Recruiting Ahsoka, Ezra, Sabine, Hera and the Ghost Crew to help the Chiss Ascendancy defeat the Grysk is the story that makes the most sense.

House of mouse should not cherry-pick key characters from the extended universe books. Thrawn is a great character that was always leaps and bounds ahead of Han, Luke, Leia, and Lando. His intelligence and tactics is what makes him a great character for the book series.

I feel ahsoka did to thrawn as what Solo did to Han. Han literally talked his way out of nothing! And the first thrawn we get he looses every battle even tho he succeeds at leaving peridia

Palpatine may not like or trust Thrawn, but he needs his skills. Hitler didn't like or want Rommel, but he needed him even in death as a propaganda ploy.
