Still devastated! Whodini was the soundtrack to my youth! I remember my first Whodini concert in 1985 in Los Angeles. I was 13, and my Mom took me, because I used to always win tickets, and she knew how much of a Fan I was. It was the best concert ever, with an All-Star line-up. My last Whodini performance was 2015 in Palm Springs. I WILL NEVER FORGET WHODINI. ECSTASY will always be a LEGEND. May God bless the three of you, and I hope Ex knew how much we loved him!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Man tears are falling. I'm a nobody in the society, but 2 or 3 years back, they came to my brother's club in Nashville Tn named Sensations. And I love my brother so much for calling me back and allowed me to meet them as they performed one night. You got to realize, I was in jr. High and High School listening to These guys One Love, Freaks Come Out At Night, and all the rest that got our families through fun times, death, family reunions, skating rinks, my first real kiss with a girl named Tina Miles who I loved and love dearly. So I met Big E and such a humble brother, we took pictures and I recall the brother really giving a damn about what I was saying to him. Jalil treated me very kind. May God rest His soul and May God help Jalil and GM Dee to heal. May God bless my brother Milton, MR. MAGIC fir showing my brother love that night. Man...🙏🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿👍🏽

I just wanted to show my appreciation & thank y’all for being one of the greatest pioneers of this art form we call hip-hop. It’s 35 years later & I’m still reminiscing on being at the Fresh Fest Concert @the Oakland Coliseum in 1985! One of the best concerts I’ve been to, minus the crowd foolishness. From that first Fresh Fest concert to the last time I saw Whodini & Run-DMC together on stage at the Greek Theater(U. C. Berkeley) and everywhere in between, Whodini is immortalized FOREVER!!!✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿 In the words of Ectasy: “The words we speak are sooo extensive, We rockin’ thee Atlantic to the Pacific, We’re the men with the international beeper, But call us at night, because our rates are cheaper, And it’s our intent, to repr-sent The D. J. that’ll give you 100%, Mo excitin’ than a 1-man band, To good to be great, so we call the man, GRAAAAAAANNNNDDD-Master Dee! OOOHHH-WHEEEEE!!!!! I was always jealous of my older family members who did, and going to Whodini concerts was like being invited to Buckingham palace! I always heard these amazing stories about their performances! And I loved their videos and styles of dress! Even my father thought they were very different...too smooth! They were beyond rap in my opinion. They were anomalies. . Thank you Grandmaster D for the inside scoop of things we probably would have never known about overseas.. that was a good study! I wish I could have saw them live. So sad to lose Estacy! Whodini are forever pioneers of Hip Hop I was raised on Whodini music because my parents had all of Whodini's albums and we played them all the time in the house. Five Mins of Funk and Freaks Come Out at Night became my favorite songs early on as a kid, plus I loved watching their music videos when BET and MTV used to play classic videos. I really like Jalil's flow and delivery on songs (Jalil's verse on Big Mouth I have memorized) but Ecstasy is amazing as well with his powerful voice. Whodini along with The Fat Boys definitely deserve more credit than they get because both groups were so unique and they were the groups that had daytime radio airplay and music videos on rotation early on, and that Fresh Fest Hip Hop crew with Whodini, Fat Boys, Run DMC, LL, and Dr Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde need more credit as a whole in taking hip hop to the next level with those tours I don't know why Whodini wasn't in Krush Groove. And much love to Larry Smith for being the first in demand and game changing Hip Hop producers. Long live Ecstacy and thank you to Whodini for the excellent music and pretty much creating Jermaine Dupri musically. Much love to Soren and the rest of Unique Access for representing the culture out here.

OMG I've been wondering how they created those incredible melodies and without sampling back then. They worked with European producers. Had no idea...

@@keiththomas111 And may this new year bring you peace of mind, your very own small business if you do not have one yet, and the personal power to pursue that one big thing that still tugs at your heart strings...trying to being born from thought to reality. And may you laugh, may you find funny comedy shows and movies that make you laugh until your back and belly ache. I'm literally reading Larry Smith's Wiki page now, and truly hope that just like the incredible BET shows they are doing on our stars like New Edition, etc., that they also include artists like not just #LarrySmith, but #LarryLevan and all those other super talents that we cannot replicate today, who were behind the scenes with little to no resources making multigenerational hits! You stay healthy - you stay focused - God Bless you and all of yours. #RIPJohnEcstacyFletcher

@@keiththomas111 Absolutely! The master musician Larry Smith co-writing with Jalil equals great composed songs. This pair remains the greatest songwriting duo of the genre. Spring '86 purchased my favorite album by the trio- " Back In Black" on cassette tape & just loved that whole album. It remains one of my favorite recordings in all of my music collection. I remember hearing " Go See The Doctor" that next year and immediately thinking that this must be a solo joint by Ecstacy - complete with a different name! Ecstacy's voice was very distinctive like the 3 godfather MCs of the genre- Grandmasters Caz & Melle Mel & Kool Moe Dee. I'm going to miss this brother but the music lives on. Always.

"About who was for real and who was fake, so you can learn from our mistakes. Cuz see it was already written done and said, so you can stay two steps ahead." - One Love Whodini was telling us men about the meaning of Love and relationships . These dudes were teaching us things. The video is so iconic and meaningful. Great interview Soren Baker. Rest in peace Ecstacy.

One of the most underrated rap groups, they should always be in the top 5 in anybody, that's a true hip hop head, man I wish the could've made their way back down south, I would always go to see them on any ticket, they always gave a great show, Municipal Auditorium, Worlds Famous Jazzy Sensations in Ca$hville, TennAkey, mad cool, gave straight love, down to earth, RIP, ancestor.

One of my Favorite groups ever. My brother Philip and I would cruise down Central Ave blasting, Funky Beat, out of our car windows in sync with each other. Their music was out of time, a head of its time! Man those were some good times. What's so interesting about old school rappers, is the music history lesson you get when they talk their careers. Even though they may have been the first to do something, they give credit to other artists who helped pave the way. RIP Ecstasy
