I love how you opened this puppy!Neccesity is the mother of invention!

I have the kit to do all this and the expertise but because of the cost of the watch and the diver rating, Id send it back to GS for a battery change and have the seals done at the same time.

Small detail, but I would have kept the nitrile gloves off until after you removed the case back with that tape. Now you have tape residue all over your gloves that can potentially transfer to the insides of the watch. Just my thoughts.

Excellent informative video bud. I'm torn between this, Sinn U1 and a Tudor heritage bronze. I know they are extreme opposites of eachother but they all have their advantages. Sinn u1 Is a literal tank, especially tegimented which I'd be getting. Tudor bronze would stop me spending a small fortune on different bracelets, and this Is quartz so indestructable In it's own way. 25 years service Intervals and the battery Is super easy to change (thanks to you) hoping to make my decision within the next 5 days. Think this video may have pushed me to the GS. Really wish I could see them all In one video though, just a tad paranoid the GS will wear a bit too big. Only thing making me hesitate and ordering from Japan to UK means no realistic returns. Thanks again.

You can X the sinn out. Me personally it would be a hard choice between the Grand Seiko an the bronze Tudor. If i had to choose, id probably go with the Grand Seiko. For reasons of my own.

Nice vid. I did a DIY battery change on the SBGX091 anti-mag model. It also has that metal inner cover between the movement and the caseback. I think that's a anti-mag cover. Its interesting to see that the GS Diver also has one. Is the Renata battery really a bad fit?
@vote4blake2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the Renata *seemed* to be a bad fit. Perhaps it was user error, but as you can see in the video, the battery seemed to pop-up in place rather than stay pressed into the battery compartment

I’ll have to try this duct tape hack. I have a good three headed tool and have tried the ball. This seems like a simple effective alternative - though maybe put the gloves on after. As a side, I’ve been looking at buying this watch model, but I fear getting one with a second hand alignment issue. I contacted a Japanese seller that I’ve used many times asking for a photo, but he would not oblige. So I’m still sitting on the fence.
@vote4blake2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t heard of any examples of GS 9F models with misaligned seconds hands. It must happen, though. Just an FYI, the US GS Boutiques happen to sell these 9F divers. They always have a few examples in the display for US buyers.
@mojosdad682 жыл бұрын
@@vote4blake Oh? I didn't know that, thought it was JDM only. I'll check that out, thanks.
@vote4blake2 жыл бұрын
Well, it is a JDM model but the US Boutiques (MIA/NYC/Bev Hills) have a few examples for buyers. I’ve only been to the NYC boutique recently and they had a blue dialed 9F diver.

You replaced it with a non SEIKO battery??? At least it was Swiss made...

I couldn’t fine a Seiko battery! However I ended up sending this to Grand Seiko UsA for a battery the next week.

Maybe it would have been wiser to compare the thickness of the old battery with the new ones to confirm you are installing the correct one.

The difference between the batteries is the 370 is a high drain and the 371 is a low drain- both are the same size but the 370 will last longer

Any estimate on a used one of those GS watches in average condition?
@vote4blake2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I haven't checked prices lately. I would guestimate that Chrono24 prices are a good indicator, with maybe a 10% discount thereon for a direct purchase (no Chrono24 fees).

Can the crown tube be replaced on this model or is it like other seiko watches where it’s permanently attached
@HarryFlashmanVC Жыл бұрын
I don't know but as it has no date, once is set, the only time you'll be using the crown will be twice a year for DST and once every 3 years for battery replacement and once every 50 years for a full service. Unlike an SKX you won't be re setting it every time its off your wrist
