Thank you for these settings. They’re absolutely amazing. Getting a stable 30 FPS in both Handheld and TV Mode. Only thing I changed is the Frame Scaling Mode. In TV Mode, Frame Scaling was causing my frame rate to stay capped out at around 22 FPS and it felt it awful. Turned it off, and now getting a stable 30. I know you can get this game to run at 40 FPS, but I really don’t mind 30. I think for a system like the Steam Deck that allows us to play games like this portably, 30 FPS is more than acceptable.

Thing is..... I'd scoff at 30fps on my desktop pc, but for some reason on the steamdeck, 30fps just feels great. My only issue with these settings is that the city looks a bit empty due to the population density setting.

You can slowly increase the population density. If you set the resolution to 720 and windowed it can also help you maintain the performance. I don’t mind black bars.

If you’re willing to knock down some of the settings to Normal you can get good crowd density.

Makes me really think about how much money I have in my gaming pc when the steam deck can get pretty close for such a cheap price and its portable! Pretty amazing really. What I have mainly noticed with the steam deck is it far out performs games on console because its the pc version with all the settings. The trick is that it does it on the small screen at lower resolution. I feel when I buy a pc game I get two games for the price of one because I can run it on the steam deck too.

I mean, not really? Consoles also get very specific patches and versions, they are usually far more optimised than pc which they usually only bother optimising for modern pc, with the mindset older yet very capable machines can suck it. The whole "just upgrade your pc bro" Todd Howard 😂

Honestly, the 4GB UMA buffer does more for games than CU’s does. You may only get a couple fps for some games using CU’s. That being said, there are some games that genuinely benefit from the swap file / swappiness changes of CU’s.

Use cryoutilities. There is no downside to it. The recent Forza settings benefit from it. I get dips once in a while without it. Idk why they are moving from cryo. Everyone uses it and he's a Linux developer lol. I'll trust cryobytte33 over these guys. Pixel deck does great work. But they need to embrace what others have done as well.

Hi, I get the error message Steam failed to initialise, please verify that Steam Client is running, when selecting the GE Proton 7-53. Without that selected the game loads okay. Could you please advise? Your Skyrim settings work like a charm, and this looks great, so I'd really like to set this up. Any ideas why I'm getting this error would be very helpful. Thank you.

@@michaelharris8346 Not true at all. If the experience was poor at 30 fps we would increase the fps and decrease the visuals. However, the experience is fantastic at 30; it’s rock solid. It seems you only care about FPS.

This is one of the dumbest and most ignorant comments we have ever seen. You do realize that the console experience for over 40 years has been 30 fps and lower, in some cases in the teens, don’t you? The correct comment would read “those that let fps get in their way of a wonderful experience, are not real gamers. @@michaelharris8346 We will have to agree to disagree here. The game is wonderful in our’s and other’s opinions. You could drop the water quality and still not hit a solid 40. What we do here is measure the checks and balances. Is it worth it visually to drop all of certain settings to achieve this frame-rate? Sometimes it’s a yes and sometimes it’s a no. Every choice we make is thoughtful and deliberate. I can understand if some people disagree and that’s perfectly ok. Those people are not our target audience.
