You know this video got me thinking. The arc Maxim flew. Not only did it fly. It hovered in spot. And took off straight up. With the weight of enough gold to coat a city. That thing was massively heavy. I can see why Enel was convinced he was God. The engineering prowess needed to design that. Because remember he was only God for 8 years before the story. Meaning those plans had to of been made beforehand. There's no way unwilling slaves managed that feat of engineering in only 8 years unless they were simply following a guide.

I am convinced that cricket and luffy are a direct parallel both literally and figuratively to kalgara and Mont Blanc. Their reunion is literally what made the bell ring again. I would not put it passed Oda at all to have their bloodlines go back to those two. There’s a lot of theories that luffy is a descendant of the sky people. I think it’s a really cool theory and genuinely adds so much additional weight to him ringing the bell without taking away from the original context at all.

Maybe the Nika fruit choose Luffy because Luffy at his core wants to help fulfill the will/dreams of others and the Nika fruit was like, "Hey, someone who who wants to help me achieve my will/dream and not try to control it or twist it."-(Nika/Joyboy's will in the fruit). Maybe this is why Luffy ended up with the fruit. His selflessness to help others and embrace the will/dreams of others is really what luffy is without his devil fruit. In the flashback of them being kids Sabo's will was become a pirate and seek freedom and Ace wanted to surpass everyone and make his name known around the world. Luffy then choosing to carry the will of Sabo's and Ace. Like a conduit of will. Expanding from the there Luffy wanted to be a pirate and begging Shanks to be a pirate on his crew. Then Luffy ate the devil fruit and then was like sure Nika God person I will help you with your will as well. This leads me to believe that Luffy's true dream that he shared with Sabo, Ace, and his crew which hasn't been revealed to the reader may tie to him wanting to help others. Luffy is like a dowling rod that seeks water, he is drawn where will is in large quantity and help it resolve. Maybe Luffy's dream is to make everyone's dreams come true. Which is so cheesy, you would laugh if he told you.

Toto is a great example of how when we do our daily duty and fulfill our responsibility in the drudgery of each day, we build our future. If Toto had neglected his digging even for just one day then he would not have been able to give Luffy the water. Speaking of dreams, I recently have thought that Devil fruits used to be called dream fruits (world gov propaganda changed the name throughout the centuries) I’m not sure how though but the way that Luffy is able to manifest dreams, I think the original Joyboy or Nika created the Devil/dream fruits for the people in the ancient kingdom to fulfill their dreams using the Human Human fruit. And if the Adam or Eve tree is involved it could have roots that are connected all over the world which is why the fruits are able to regenerate anywhere in the world. Including Thriller Bark in this video kinda breaks the entire base notion this theory is crafted on, the association had nothing to do with Luffy's motivation or drive, neither did the will/memories of the shadows or any of what you mentioned. His sole motivation in thriller bark was that he found an amusing skeleton who agreed to join but couldn't because he had no shadow. No more no less (unless you count Luffy's initial wish to have a ghost as a pet). Not to mention how this theory wants to flip Luffy's DF into a dream god fruit instead of a sun god fruit when said arc was literally about people longing for the sun trapped in the darkness. I do believe this happened in Wano as well. Except, more literally through the awakening of the Nika fruit. You could probably explain it better than me, but while Luffy was charging up the Bajrang Gun, Oda juxtaposes this with the dreams of citizens at the fire festival. You can literally see their prayers, wishes, and dreams going up into the sky, and right after that Luffy has the attack fully prepared. In the later chapters we see the final wishes to see Orochi die and to defeat that scary dragon literally culminate into Luffy defeating Kaido. I think it's the same concept, except rather than Luffy having to hear/see this determination from the locals and have that give him his reasons, his powers felt that from the citizens and the samurai and could use that to gain power. This concept was furthered for by Vegapunk's words, "as long as people wish it, his [Nika] existence will never disappear." And even Who's Who said that the prisoners believed in it so much that even he started believing in it, just as a way to keep him alive as he was desperate to get out. This idea of either believing directly in the Sun God or believing in becoming free, I think these literally give Gear 5th itself, added strength.

FYI: I posted this here a while ago, but the third power system in One Piece is Will Power. These speculations about Robin having an awakening don't make sense, because there are no "half" awakenings. But there's an element of silent worldbuilding where every ability, particularly of non-devil fruit users, are an expression of the character's will. Robin feels like a demon, so she is a demon. Zoro wants to be the king of hell, so he has a demon form. Sanji is the best cook and his mentor was named red leg, so his leg literally gets lit on fire. I just mentioned this again because you are linking the themes of the story to character-specific plots that all reflect the theme, but that is what most people misunderstand. Oda already explained what the third power system is as well.

I think that the reason Gear 3rd works is not just because of some science that Luffys arm now has more mass due to the compressed air in the bones but rather because Luffys fruit makes it work. Gear 3rd is powerful because, in Luffy's mind, a giant arm has giant strength. Just like how Bonney's imagination gives her fruit more power, Luffy's fruit is the same way. Gear 3rd was foreshadowing for Gear 5th. (Besides which, blowing air into your thumb shouldn't be able to send air into the rest of the arm, as the bones are not connected in such a way.) Also, Faith may well help strengthen Luffy's fruit. How many times should Luffy have been down and out but then the crew has their faith in Luffy tested and the moment they choose to keep fighting and believing in Luffy, he is suddenly able to get his 2nd wind and get back up to finish the villain off?

I guess you could say that his power could literally come from the people that believe in him and the dreams he carries. Spit balling here, but, although a trope, Luffy’s power increases really do seem to align with him either taking on the responsibility of one or more people’s dreams, or one or more people starting to believe in him. Since devil fruit powers come from the dreams of people, why can’t a fruit’s own power be powered by the dreams/beliefs of people in the owner?

I'm starting to think that it might've been better if they told Crocodile where Pluton was. Say Cobra took Robin and Crocodile to the Poneglyph. Robin tells him that it's in Wano, which is being occupied by the Beast Pirates. He has no hope of defeating Kaido, and even if Kaido and Orochi let him into Wano the only person who knows the exact location is Sukiyaki (whom everyone believes is dead). So basically, he'd leave Alabasta with no hope of ever getting Pluton.

That's exactly how I understood him overpowering Kaido in that last clash. That's also why I don't adhere to notions that Shanks MUST be stronger than either Kaido or Luffy. Unless there's some crazy plot twist, Shanks will never fight Luffy in similar circumstances, where Luffy gets that dream boost. So, even if Shanks were to face Luffy, it probably wouldn't be the best version of Luffy.

It's because of this shared will I wager that's the reason people don't die. It's because of Luffy, he won't let them die. He just won't. It lines up so perfectly. Even Pell. The fact they and Luffy are sharing their will, they only die when Luffy does. He essentially renders those he cares about immortal through his reality bending devil fruit and unshakable will. Though with Ace, his powers weren't strong enough, his body wasn't ready. The weight of reality beat dreams that day. To summarise, I think Oda is sending a message that dreams and death/killing don't belong together. I mean, Luffy doesn't kill anyone. So there's that.

I feel it's more like, Ace had fulfillment in that moment. A lifetime of his worries and pain lifted by knowing his life was worth having lived, and choosing to use it for his family. Total dream fulfillment and acceptance rather than luffy being too weak to save him.
