Wow - my family made our own cookbook, too, with lots of family photos, and stories about the recipes - I really treasure it! I've never attempted a non-boxed cake, but your mom's does look easy... I think there's chocolate cake in my future! 😊

The only bad thing about homemade whipped cream, is that you can't go up to the youngest child in the house and blow their mind by squirting whipped cream in a can directly into their mouths.

Not the easiest chocolate cake I've ever made. My grandma had a Crazy Cake. That was mixed entirely in the pan.

What kitchen scale are you using? I'm in the market for a digital one.

There are lots of good ones. I often like the OXO one, because it has a screen that you can pull out, in case you're weighing anything in a big bowl and want to be able to read the amount more easily.
