My grandma used eggs and milk!
@heatherparks3993Ай бұрын
@@inshallamiamiI've heard of people using milk. I don't think I've ever had it that way. This year will be my 1st time using eggs. I keep hearing how much better eggs make it. I hope it turns out right.😮😊

I butter my dish instead of using spray. It makes the edges crusty and delicious.

Thank you for showing how you stripped the thyme off the stem! I never used fresh thyme before and I was about to sit there picking every little leaf off, lol. Phew! The little things help!

If you like crusty edges you should butter your dish. I've always made it without egg, but everyone keeps telling me adding eggs makes it even more delicious, so this year I'm going to try it. I also use mushrooms instead of sausage. My Grandmother would make 2 stuffings for Thanksgiving. One had oysters in it and us kids weren't having it😊

This is a lot like my grandmother use to make, but I think, se may have only added the sage. I do have a question though, I cannot for the life of me remember if, you keep the bread dry to stuff the bird? She use to have the stuffing on the side as you made, but, she also stuffed the bird with the same ingredients so it tasted the same inside and out of the bird.

To bump up the flavor. Double the chicken stoick. Cook it back down to 2 cups, This concentrated broth will give it a more cooked in the bird taste. Grandma probably used canned concentrated stock without diluting it. If there is a hint about milk try this. It was is often to add about 1 & 1/2 cups. A real boost is replace the milk with a can of cream of Chicken. Celery or Mushroom soup. Since it is less than the cup and a half of liquid add 4 ounces of cream or more richness. If you don't want to use canned products make your own and cook down to the proper consistency. If you do use the milk idea thoroughly mix the eggs to it before adding to the bowl. For fun you can even Saute some chopped button mushrooms in more butter. If you enjoy them. If not cut up a stick of butter and scatter it over the dish before baking. Have Fun.

I like to use pumpernickel along with white bread. I toast my bread in toaster then cut up in cubes. I cook up my Turkey giblets and use meat from giblets along with the liquid in my dressing. Cook up onion and celery with butter. Seasoning of sage, poultry seasoning and salt n pepper. Mix up and bake. Or stuff bird with dressing if you want.

Try something different from my German grandma add a small green pepper, along with the onion and celery, also use less onion. Everything else is great, and cook the celery and other ingredients until soft. You will like the difference.

You can make it and then just don't bake it. You could even leave out the last bit of chicken broth. Be sure to thaw it and add the chicken broth before you bake it.
