Your videos are the best! You bring a lot of clarity to the troubleshooting process. I’m still a fan of not nailing the bottom flange in pipe boots. I mostly inspect roofs for insurance companies, and it seems like 90% of the leaks I see come from exposed nails in boots. But I like your comment about nailing in the part of the flange that’s going under a shingle. Great tip with the dog ears around the box vent. I’m using that on my next repair.

Your phone video will stay in horizontal video capture as long as you are recording if you started the video in horizontal. If you start your video in vertical capture it will capture the entire video vertically. You were good! Love the videos I learn a ton from each one.

That was the first thing I noticed about the vent was the previous roofer had the shingles completely against the vent there was no channel for the water to to drain down.

I have a leaky attic vent its because its just too much rain.

Need better vent design or better rain cannels maybe in the shingles themselves. Perhaps some cutting or refitting to give better room for water run off.

Expose the metal flange to let water run down! just cover the edge of the flange with the shingles!

If they sealed the shingles to the vent this problem wouldn't have occurred.

Insulting a box vent on roof
