I saved this video ages ago just in case. Just in case arrived. I rewatched this video, made a list, went to the building supply store and fixed my roof. I’m female, approaching retirement age, lifelong desk job - and I repaired my own roof for $108. (I already had the shingles.) I am eternally grateful.

I run service for a roofing company. Mostly commercial flat roofs but I get shingle repair regularly. I also can cosign this work. Personally I prefer rp400 to seal the shingles as it's an asphalt product. Also, I strongly recommend the pac tools roof snake instead of a flatbar.

It's nice to see that not all 10+ year old roofs automatically need full replacement if there is damage anywhere. I appreciated seeing the full process of taking out the old shingle, replacing boards as needed, putting in ice/water, new shingles, and caulking.

Yeah they don't need to but for companies to make their money and to pay for their licenses you absolutely have to pay for a new roof because their minimum amount that they can work for is 3 to 5 Grand here's another Secret some companies higher independent skilled installers I need my label themselves as construction companies what sound more like insurance companies to me when you talk to them the guys they hire are sub contractors

Wood working tip - At 21:00. First cut should have been downwards, perpendicular to grain of wood. Eliminates the risk of splitting the wood along the grain leading to moments of "That should not have happened" situation. It probably would have come to you if the second cut also split. :)

Thanks for sharing. I like your 1 Takes. I am knowledgeable about construction, windows, the path of water and how it travels, but I am still not sure about the roofing shingles, and the keyway, etc, I know you work your way up from bottom to top and lap backwards to prevent water infiltration. Lots to know. Keep up the good work. What would you charge to do a job like this? Have a great day.

Have a straight wind that swept through and only took off about a dozen half shingles at different locations only over garage. The rest of the roof is fine. This application would be the answer to my roof damage. The wind tore them in halves right upper shingle level. I kept the torn shingles, they are still pliable, may just glue them back on, may be puzzle getting them back in existing location. You think just gluing them would work?

I love your videos. I just had my roof replaced by a reputable company I think. I can't believe all the bad roofs that people are paying for. I have questions first shingles have been around for ever shouldn't there be a one time way to install them and second im curious about the 2×4 decking I have never seen that
@randybrown57186 ай бұрын
You are good !
@roadstar4992 жыл бұрын
even ply decks have many gaps which basically a lot of roofers end up blowing nails threw or nails are there but have zero hold... when you hand nail you can easily adjust and just put in some extra nails or pull nail and hit higher and lower. the bottom line is,just because a roof looks good from the road it does not mean it was done without mistakes...

Were you in the attic during a decent have rain looking? What do you mean had a layer of roofing done? Are there any plumbing vent pipes in the area? What was the temperature outside, below freezing?
@mariovazquez1902 жыл бұрын
@@GrandRoofingInc No that's going to be next move. I didnt like the color of the tile (silver) to go with a tan house, so the county allowed to do an overlay. No pipes , im in California so no freezing temps it just leaks during rain even with the old tile. Thanks for advice makes sense going we have pretty good storms now so in the attic I go.
