@@GrandRoofingInc Well, I'm your newest roofing competitor in the Hamilton county area, and soon I'll have taken ALL of the clients from both of your businesses! Mua ha ha ha! No, seriously I'm not a roofer, and I don't even know what state Hamilton county is in. I'm here because I'm confused as to what to use to cover a bare plywood spot on a roof with standard asphalt shingles. I was initially going to use felt paper, but apparently the home centers don't sell it in anything smaller than huge rolls. Some of it is slightly thicker than the rest. Which is best? 🚫 However, the "expert" at Lowes recommended another option, which was to buy the 1gal can of Henry brand, solvent based roof coating and spread that over the bare plywood instead of using felt paper. Then install the new 3-row shingles(after the coating completely dries I assume). Seems to me that may not provide a consistently flat enough surface for the shingles(??) Which of those 2 options would you recommend, and lastly, can I just buy a tube of roof sealer for my caulk gun and use it to seal roofing nails AND hold down loose shingles, or do I need roofing cement and sealer? Thanks.

The chance of me getting on the roof of my 1 story house in Florida is so close to zero, it's beyond human comprehension. But I watch videos like this to learn what professionals do which in turn helps me understand what the contractor is saying, what work needs to be done, and how the work is done. The long form videos are fine, and I appreciate the time and effort you put into producing them.

I was looking at the larger nailing area on the shingles and noticed that about half the area marked for nailing, only goes through 1 layer. I thought that wasn’t good, as the shingles could melt apart, or if the nail hits just off the second layer, it could blow through the top layer.

Thank you Brian for another informative video. As you often demonstrate, nail placement is critical in shingle roofing. And each shingle represents another opportunity to screw things up. Few people can maintain focus on each and every nail, but that is what it takes. Don't mind "longer" videos either.

Anyway i was able to get it all done just by watching your videos. I do have experience in general construction since I’m a plumber by trade and always watching how other trades work around me but either way your a great teacher.
