Getting off the couch now to make these! Update: I made these last night, using an 8x8 pan, coconut oil and used blueberries and mini chocolate chips as my "extras." AMAZING! I'll definitely make these again! Next time I dehydrate strawberries I'll make strawberry and chocolate chip.

I've made them now! I used coconut oil (72 grams which is supposed to be 1/3 american cup). It worked very well and held together brilliantly! They were just a little brittle and tended to crumble when I cut them, so I'll bake them for 25 minutes next time. They are DELICIOUS!!! Really RECOMMEND!!

For 2-3 days you can store them in an air-tight container or I sometimes use a zip lock baggie with all the air pressed out. For longer than that I would store them in the fridge and they will keep for weeks. If they start drying out, you could also wrap them individually in plastic wrap to store. Granola bars also freeze well. Whichever way you go, try to keep them from touching if they are not wrapped in plastic. Wax paper is good for keeping them separated.

These things turned out awesome. Thanks Jenny!!

Well, I've got my fifth one in the oven now, seems I'm addicted to these things! I don't use the coconut (don't like it) but use flax seeds instead (2 TBS), and have replaced 2 TBS of brown sugar with maple syrup, which I put in the mix with oil and honey, and vanilla. Love these bars!!! Tasty, healthy, crunchy! Perfect snack any time of day or night! I'm glad they are so easy to make. I can only go one day without them, then I have to make a new batch! Five Stars!!!***** Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe!

I swear that you can make granola bars out of almost everything. I decided to make some. I used a bunch of oatmeal, some raisin bran I had in the cabinet, natural peanut butter, some mixed healthy nuts, coconut oil, chocolate protein powder, honey, and just a bit of water to get it to the right consistency.

Just found this great video at the end of 2017 and so great to see you even if this video is rather old. Loved your talk show. Always looking for recipes to replace unhealthy boxed items from the grocery store and this is perfect. Hint: to get parchment paper to lay flat I use a small spray bottle filled with water. Spray the pan very lightly on the bottom and the paper will lay flat and it will dry out very quickly when you put it in the oven. Also can be done for no bake recipes as well.

Jenny, My granddaughter returned from pre-school to ask if we could make granola bars from scratch. We viewed 21 videos after viewing your recipe second; I returned to your simple version because we decided with mom on three requirements for a decent g-bar which are flavor, texture, and firm but not too crispy. I purchased one ingredient the next day and came back to the video (you are funny but so natural) and made the bars. We all raised our eyebrows and said, "These are really really good!" The next week I added a tbl. more oil and mixed the honey in well, that was important. Thank you. Today we make gummy bears.

Great video. Thank you. I like to use coconut sugar (instead of brown sugar and cane sugar), I like to use coconut oil instead of canola oil, and I like to use local raw honey instead of processed, store-bought honey. I am wondering if I could somehow exchange the store-bought chocolate chips with a mix of Medjool dates (for sweetness) and 100% dark cocoa powder. I have been wanting to make my own bars in order to get away from the added sugar of the store-bought ones. I came across your video just in time and am very thankful for it.

Abbasgirl68: if you are going to feed your granola bars to anyone else, make sure they don't have a latex allergy. People with latex allergies often cannot eat coconut oil.

Abbasgirl68 just get a very good quality dark chocolate bar and shave some into it, the dark chocolate is full of antioxidants but yes dates work as well.

Aliciaek I made some with dried apricots and Chinese 5 spice and they were really good. I make a peach baked steel cut oats recipe with the spices you suggested, it’s great on cold days from the “ kick”

I used chopped dates and it helps to bind the ingredients well. But if you use dates cut down on the sugar because dates are sweet.

from wikipedia "Talk to the hand" (or "tell it to the hand") is an English language slang phrase associated with the 1990s. It originated as a sarcastic way of saying one does not want to hear what the person who is speaking is saying.

I tried this in the week and three days after I tried it, both attempts came out good, I did not use all the nuts you used, I use rasins and peanut, had no coconut, I use coconut powder, the second batch I use wheat germs, I use oil to Grease paper, it was easier with the oil for paper to be remove, thanks for this easy recipe, everyone please be safe
