@@NailCareerEducation I have an 11yo who stress bites, these vids help in two main reasons: the nail biting & I hate to say it (I didn't know he was until after I was pregnant, so I apologize for him) my ex-husband's extreme opposite views on acceptance, gender norming, etc from I guess religion & how he was raised? Thanks to these, I can gently add in a completely respectful way, why we need to be accepted in all forms, but I digress & don't want to upset anyone, sorry if I did & mean no offense. as a nail bitter i greatly appreciate you talking about the attitudes from technicians ive been hit on the hands and told to stop ive had the book when it comes to being made to feel bad about biting but i cant stop manicures are the only thing i found that helped long term but im afraid to get them because technicians are rude are make it no fun. if there recommendations for Langley b.c send them my way id kill to find someone that wont shame me for biting but help me get over it its been a life long problem for me.

I understand what you're saying about some nail techs being rather..... let's say forcefully opinionated about nail biting and the like. I stopped seeing one nail tech because she would get angry that I don't have the best control of the muscles in my left thumb and it would move involuntarily. Instead of holding my thumb, she would purposefully file it crooked and she wouldn't even buff the nail. A good, understanding attitude from the nail tech is so important!

Getting acrylic nails was the only thing that got me over my nail-biting habit. I was lucky to find someone right away who was encouraging and positive about helping me get over the habit, but I couldn't imagine going back if someone had a bad attitude about working with the nails I was already ashamed of! Imagine going into a salon with a little bit of a nail and they ask if they can cut it to fit a tip instead of sculpting the nail out. A lot of salons don't know how to sculpt a nail with acrylic. Especially here in Ohio. There's very few places that know how. It's frustrating. That's why I do my own.

Maybe try putting down a thicker base layer before the color changing acrylic. This might make his actual body temperature have less of an effect on the acrylic, leaving them open to more drastic changes in color depending on the room temperature.

I love coming back to these videos. I'm a bad nail biter too, and I recently got my first set of acrylics. Other nail biters looking at this option, talk to people you know who get their nails done often. See if they can help you get a consultation with a tech in your area. Some are gentler than others, and if you have any sort of irregularities with your nail (like cuticle shape, thickness or thinness, etc.) you want a tech who is gentle and used to clients like that.

i got my nails done for the first time about 8 months ago and the lady was so rude she didn't even want to touch my nails because i use to bite them.. so i never returned and later 5 weeks after having the acrylic on and they were so over grown my mom's friend called me and told me she would do it for free, and she did them 3 times for me and now i don't get them because i don't bite my nails i just use gel polish
