Built one of those automatic floating magnets in a lab class. You don't really need a thousands of times per second a refresh in the 100s of times a second is more than enough. It's really a demonstration of PID control

In case someone was wondering: "A PID (Proportional - Integral - Derivative) controller is an instrument used by control engineers to regulate temperature, flow, pressure, speed, and other process variables in industrial control systems."

Isn’t it just bang-bang control in the Hall effect sensor + op amp to drive a mosfet gate for the electromagnet?

Very cool! I want to learn more about electronics and magnets so I can make one. Before I found your video, I bought two off of Amazon. One has a moon that levitates and lights up. The other one levitates and lights up a light bulb,

You can make a stable passive system using pyrolytic graphite. No need for spinning etc. Great diamagnetic substance and so no need to worry about Earnshaw’s theorem.

@Vonderbach We only have theories about the nature of a magnets and electricity, and we know how to predict their behavior and work with them, but our knowledge of magnetism and electricity is still limited to theories.
