My mom passed away 4 years ago, every thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter my mom would make a fruit salad with grapes, apples , bananas and walnuts or pecans and she used miracle whip, everyone loved it. My job was to cut the grapes in half and remove the seeds.🤗 the cream cheese and brown sugar, puts it over the top . I’m going to try this salad next dinner the family can get together, we usually have 23 to 27 at our holiday get togethers. Love ya Paula.

@To Be Honest First, make it your own by changing up the ingredients to suit your fastidious tastes. Second, not much is truly unhealthy if eaten in moderation! You aren't supposed to drown yourself in it, just eat a few bites with your meal and give your taste buds a treat! In fact, it would make a nice desert!

Me as well. We've seen and experienced far worse. Love is more powerful. I just wish folks remind themselves, " Out of the heart the mouth speaks"...and lots of times we get caught in our feelings. When we say crazy things out of emotion...we don't take it to be out of hate...so why label that on someone else. Truly be fair. Truly allow an apology..we are human...and truly forgive. Same. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with a fruit & cheese combination, but personally this salad would be a lot more appealing to me without. I'd also probably do about half the creamy sauce so all the fruit isn't so drowned. But the overall spirit of the recipe, with the plump juicy grapes, bits of pineapple/apple/cherry, sweetened cream cheese & toasted nuts sounds sooooo delicious.

Hey Paula. I saw the thumbnail and was intrigued. How fortunate you are to still have your Aunt. Before I watch this, here's what I'd put in a grape salad: red and white grapes, sour cream, mayo, chopped apples, finely chopped celery, a pinch of sugar, if needed a splash of mild vinegar like rice vinegar or lemon juice, if I had a super sweet onion maybe a little bit of finely minced onion, a pinch of Caraway seeds, walnuts, maybe sweet basil or tarragon, white pepper, and feta or blue cheese. (I just realized, I think that's a Yankee salad ; ) (I just heard you say cream cheese. Excellent. Definitely.) Of course, for a sweeter salad, citrus like mandarins, pineapple, and the cheddar you used would make a lovely salad. Raisins, cherries, cheese...I could eat that by the gallon!🙂 Thanks for sharing. P.S. It's so true about recipes. I wish I had written down the way I made so many things when I made them, especially the amounts of certain ingredients. I just eyeball almost everything.

Ms. Paula.. I have owned a custom floral decorating business in DC for 37 years. I don't know how I did what I did either. But I can tell you this...We do what we have to do to keep the lights on. I always said my retirement plan was to set up the ballroom and after my client sees the room and signs the check I'll just drop dead; be rolled under the buffet table till the event is over when the'll sweep me up and haul me to the dump with the trash!! Thing is..I have learned that my grandma was so smart. She always said to never say you will never do something because sure as the sun will come up tomorrow you will have to do whatever it is before you leave this old world. So I'm careful to say I HOPE I never have to do something. And you had 2 boys to raise as a single parent. THAT'S how you did all that you did. You HAD to climb those steps! And that is how and why and how you are WHO and WHERE you are today. My hat's off to you. Be well...

I've had raisin salad all my life, but never with cheese. Just the mix, the grapes, and pecans.

I love eating cheese with grapes, apples n raisins together, I like Colby Jack n harvatti or mild cheddar n string cheese these days..would think powdered sugar maybe instead of regular sugar. That salad looks soooo good. Love Paula watched many many hours back in the day.. so crappy what Food Network did to her...

This makes me extremely sad to know about Albany. I went to school there. I still have some of my bestest friends there. But seeing your videos being posted frequently makes my day! I am 7 week pregnant with annoying morning sickness throughout the day. I am craving grapes right now so this is perfect! Stay safe, Paula and everyone!
