I’ve never even thought about teachers receiving training on packing a wound and making tourniquets in case there’s a school shooting. You hear about the drills but never about the other aspects of training that the educators go through. What a world.

I was sick to my stomach the first time my child came home and said they had an active shooter drill. I wasn’t aware of the extent of their training. Then my Nephew text me while hiding from a shooter at MSU. I don’t know what is happening to this world, but we need extreme measures taken at schools to ensure our children come home, our teachers go home, and a shooter has zero chance of entering.

@@JL-zn7meI totally agree… our entire world is suffering from the evil that surrounds us…. Not just our country but our entire world! I blame the violent video games young children are playing on their electronic devices. Parents don’t want to spend their time with their children because they are working full time and they want to be able to watch their own games and on social media so they allow their babies to play violent games on their devices… I know of a 4 year old boy who was allowed to play a very graphic violent video game about shooting an older woman who was using a Rolla-Walker as she was shopping in town and then he aimed at her with his video “guB” device and schO-T her inda heed …. It was the most disturbing and disgusting video I’ve ever seen…. Was just awful… I asked him if his parents knew about this video game and he said that his parents loved the game and they approved of his playing it… he said..”oh… it’s just a game! It’s NOT REAL and that his friends also play the same games… Young children are being desensitized by the violence and are taught that it’s okay and it’s just a game…. I don’t agree with this and I believe it’s completely unacceptable for kids who are allowed to play violent video games because they are being desensitized and they are being exposed to violence and abuse by what they see… the TVS and devices are too realistic it’s hard to tell what is real and what isn’t…. And it’s just beyond wicked allowing babies to see such gore and violence and have no compassion for the victims in the video games and they just walk around the old woman who was d-yingg on the street…. Wow! Our world doesn’t even have a chance at being a wholesome and normal human being bcuz it’s these devices that are rewiring their brains and it’s making them think differently from normal and they are becoming psychopaths who are violent and have no sense of peace and love for others… the oxford school shooter was also into playing these horrible video games and was obsessed with the gore and violence…. Same thing with the big brother Paul Ferguson who helped his mom murder his brother by torturing him for months

I never EVER thought in a million years that i would have to listen to another School shooting hearing were i actually knew the person. It's way more personal when you know a person that was greatly effected by such a horrible thing that keeps happening in this country. Not okay. I'm sorry this happened to her and the other victims.

"We've been trained on how to pack a wound, treat a wound" that should be 100% unacceptable to every American. She is a TEACHER! Children and educators shouldn't have to be war ready at school 😢

Unfortunately that's the world we live in now. I'm a mom of 4 boys, all in elementary school. My boys go to school 20 minutes away from the Nashville school shooting. It's truly sad and heartbreaking. It's like we are forced to rob our own kids of their innocent childhood years of school so that they know to take school drills seriously and be aware. It shouldn't be this way. Our children should be safe to learn. Breaks my heart that my kids are growing up in this evil world.. I'm scared for them

I'm so very sorry you had to go through this! I'm also an educator and cannot imagine your bravery and fear at the same time! We like to think we'd be able to act in such a manner as you, but I'm actually afraid I wouldn't be as strong as you! May you have comfort and peace as you try to heal from this horrible experience! I hope you're able to find these completely and rest assured knowing you are amazingly strong!

Public school teacher here. I am so sad this woman had to experience this. I am certain it will haunt her. This child has changed her view of the world and he had no right to do this (obviously). Each year I have to be trained in active shooter scenarios. Which includes triage for pre k to 5 th graders. Our gym would be the morgue. Then I have to practice these scenarios with my fourth graders and show them where to hide and what to do if the windows are shot through or if I’m dead on the floor to leave me to escape. That I have to do this for their safety and mine is disgusting. Everyone says how education and children are our number one priority. Well, Iam calling bs. Fully find out schools for the services the kids need. Stop bashing teachers and treat them with respect. Most teachers have stood in front of bullets for their students. Put a fence and cameras around all schools. One way in, one way out with a full time security guard instead of our secretary, who has no way to stop anyone except with their life. If any politician really cared This would happen. Right now while we actively figure out what the hell this is about and fix it. Immediate action is critical.
