Yes, he was attempting to reach out for help! He is stating that weird things are happening to him and he is scared. He says it could be his delusions! Severely neglected imo, even his older brother said he had been worried about him. If anytime parents are partially responsible, it would be in this case. He seems remorseful, upset in this hearing. At least that is a start! These cases are just heartbreaking all around. Many prayers for the victims, their families and all teachers and students involved. 💙🙏💙

@@desired4558 I bet no one talked about the parents putting him into counseling, right? He was going to counseling for over 2 years! If the parent's neglected him, then so did the school! The school didn't even express the seriousness to the parents and allowed him to stay in school. A teacher even handed Ethan his backpack 30 minutes before the shooting! So, if the parents are facing charges so should the principle of the school along with his teacher!

i genuinely believe they gave it to him intending for him to use it on himself. i by no means condone ethan’s actions, but his parents neglected him to the point where he broke. teenagers don’t know what they’re doing, they’re only entering life. maybe ethan can turn his life around, maybe not, only time will tell. but his parents, having gone through life and through what ethan is going through in terms of growing up, are almost entirely responsible for giving him a gun and not getting him the help they knew he needed.

That kid needed compassion, time, love and support 😢 Not 2 parents who ignored him, left him alone, laughed about him behind his back, dismissed his hallucinations, dismissed his physical pains, bought him a gun to feel safe at home instead of actually being there with him to protect him. Ontop of that they both prioritised him working at a kitchen job ontop of going to school while he was feeling unwell. The video of him collapsing at work, along with these messages, is so sad.

Hearing him call her mommy…. And she ignores him!! That makes me sick. Maternal and paternal isolation. But he was constantly needing his mom, she showed him no care or concern. His actions are inexcusable but I can see where his long term neglect made him want to hurt baby animals and young children as even the baby birds got more love and attention than he did. In his manifesto he mentioned he didn’t want to kill teachers or adults. Just kids. He seems envious and jealous and hated that they received goodness from their parents and he didn’t. His parents ruined him and the school administrators dropped the ball on their chance to intervene. I continually believe his parents deserve worse than him. They have already done him so wrong and hurt him for his lifetime. I’m a high school teacher and school shootings are my biggest fear, I NEVER empathize with school shooters (I think the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooter should have gotten the death penalty) but Ethan was raised in isolation, parental selfishness and neglect.

2:42 As a parent this is heartbreaking to hear. This is a child expressing he is frightened and needs his mommy!!! This is neglect. Her actions state her needs are important and his are not. Abuse takes a toll on a child. A lifetime of neglect results in hostility. To think that did not have an impact on the situation would be naive. The greatest determining factor in a child’s success is his or her support system (family of origin, extended family, friends, community, and school). We need to step up as a society to nurture our children and stop ignoring their mental health. Too many parents allow their own ego to take precedence over their children’s health and well-being. What we are witnessing is negligence. We must ensure our children feel loved and make their mental health a priority. In doing so, we can start the process of breaking this cycle and healing our communities. Sending each of you love, light, peace, and healing. 🙏💫😇✨🩵🌟

Listening to Ethan plead with his mother to return home and then devolve into auditory and vidusl hallucinations is so sad. This was not a grown man at the time. His parents knew his distress but left his texts unanswered. They very much contributed to what Ethan did that day. It's cases like this that demonstrate a need for much better mental health services AND facilities that are separate from prison for people like this boy. He has to be incarcerated for his actions... but prison is not going to help him or protect others from him (he will be a danger to staff and other prisoners). We need facilities for people that are found criminally guilty but so affected by their mental health that they need custodial mental health services. Not coddling... but intense care and treatment. Facilities with the right professionals could either help people like him... or sort out the psychopaths that are incapable of meaningful change. Those people can be forwarded to prison for their sentences.

This entire situation is tragic… For all involved. Ethan‘s parents completely failed him, & I truly hope they burden and shoulder that guilt for the rest of their lives. I swear to God, I believe in people’s rights 💯, but I truly think that there should be some screening process for people to procreate… Some people just should never be allowed to have children!! Ethan was crying out for love, care, & attention that he never got from his POS parents, and now that he has all of this attention, you could see his remorse, and you could see that now he wishes he had never gotten it. But the grief the parents of the kids who are gone, is prob of no comparison. But it does make one wonder how culpable parent should be when one has parents like Ethan does. He tried so damn hard to win their love, it’s very sad. Makes me want to see what his life could have been if he would’ve been raised with different parents. And now he’ll never get a chance to do anything with his life…But neither will those other kids. Like I said, just completely tragic 😢

I’ve always wondered if they bought him a gun in the secret hopes he would take his own life & relieve them of their burden of being ‘parents’.

Parents failed him he schould have been sent home no questions asked where i live his locker backpack and dismessed from school prooerty they dropped the ball too! his parents should have suggested themselves to take him home! they were so wrapped up in their own lives and being in his condition should NEVER been bought a gun even for his own safety as well as their own! they should have got him help not a gun! Then they run....fail him again they get lawyers and none for him! I believe he needs to be punished for his actions but this time it could have been prevented! I hope he gets some help in jail and his parents pay a price themselves!

RIP Justin :( You were so brave..you remained calm and probably knew before the trigger was even pulled that you were going to go home. I cannot believe what this poor young man, and anyone else that passed away that day's, parents felt. I am praying for everyone. I am so scared to send my kid to school every day in America..and I'm a gun owner! Something needs to change!!!! Protect our KIDS!

His parents let him down big time, he felt lonely and neglected, l dont condone what he did, the parents shld be charged to they contributed maybe he was trying to get their attention as parents, so going to celebrate was more important than their child, and they bought him a gun, obviously he had some issues maybe they shld hve sought medical help early.😳😳😳😳

This is my first time hearing about the messages he sent to his mom about coming home. I do believe he was terribly ignored, they bought him things to keep him occupied and out of their way. That doesn’t put way the recordings of him and his diary entries wanting to be known as the best school shooter, refusing to comitt suicide afterward because he wanted to be around to see the damage he done. He planned this out, had a fantasy of what he wanted and did it, that isn’t mental illness.

I was a helicopter mom so the thought of leaving my kid alone at home is unimaginable. He would have been little. The mother seemed concerned when she was texting her husband. Any time before that she neglected him. Where was his father when he was alone and scared? I'm not sure if it's nature vs nurture when it comes to psychopathy but apparently it's treatable in children. I don't think it is. Most serial killers though came from abusive homes. Maybe that's what flips the switch. He tortured animals and went on to murder people. He enjoyed it and had no empathy. That's a psychopath.

Ethan deserves a retrial..period..the Judge did not listen to the Psychologists that stated he could be rehabbed and let out someday..with proper care and discipline he might be a good citizen..give him a chance! He was still a child in an awful home with neglectful parents! James Crumbley's ex girlfriend or wife that has his other child said he was an awful father to their son and despised Jennifer!
