I was driving with my boyfriend from california back to fort collins. We picked up two girls on the way who were hitchhiking to the dead concert. Had a big fight with my boyfriend so i got out with the girls i think 3 days prior to the concert at the camp. With not a penny in my pocket they fed me and i had a place to sleep. A guy showed me mother marys face in a crystal. I still remember how beautiful it was. The day of the show i hitchhiked to fort collins. Never heard of the grearful dead before because im german.

These were the first shows I attended and I had the time of my life. Camping at nearby Chief Hosa campgrounds the center of Shakedown Street. I tripped the whole 3 days and probably took another few to come down to earth. I was with good friends good weed and strong acid. We lived in tie dye munching down hippie chow and drinking beer. The run was good and the first and last time I got to see Brent.RIP Jerry Vince Keith and Pigpen

The back was side B of shakedown street. That was the start of the fall term. By November I was on the road- at 14. By 17 I had hitchhiker the country back and forth repeatedly. Am a chick. So wtf. I was lucky enough to see this run and Telluride. Maybe it was me, but I felt the atmosphere/setting was better than the actual shows. The highlight for me in terms of the music was the Estimated Prophet from Red Rocks, and the He's Gone was strong, too. One memorable thing happened: while I was just about to enter through one of the small turnstile entries at Red Rocks, a tripping head jumped the turnstile right in front of me. At least two big security guards caught him immediately and said to him, "Where's your ticket? Where's you ticket?" Then, this guy standing by, a stranger, pulled out a ticket for him, and said, "Here it is." And the head looked at him as though he were Jesus. Miracled after crashing the gates...The '82 and '85 Red Rocks shows are superior to this '87, imo.
@Chasstful9 жыл бұрын
I was there as well, it was a helluva time, 5 shows in Colorado in a week, it was sort of blurrr...Sadly, I thought Jerry had really turned the corner, he looked 20 year older than he did in 85.
@Mark-ck6tw9 жыл бұрын
82 is great, 83 I would rank maybe first above 82. 84 - my lowest rant of GD at RR,. 85 - with the exception of tall stacks in day time shows (1st (9-5-85) was not bad, 2nd day - terrible, and 3rd fantastic), Overall 1987 was not bad, yet during that year they played short songs, and shorter shows...most of which were tight and well, yet less exploratory.

I was in Telluride too. I have a great photo of the Grateful Dead sign with the mountains in the background. It was such a cool place for a show, but it was not a great show. The band screwed up brokedown palace and Jerry blamed it on the altitude. LOL They had speakers throughout telluride with the music playing it was so cool. The day we arrived, Jerry and Brent were hanging out in a bar just talking to fans. The good news was they had a lot of more great years ahead of them. If anybody would like a copy of the photo, let me know.

Does anybody remember the 8/13 Row Jimmy when somebody on Phil's side near the stage fell and hit their head and the EMT people were literally trying to bring them back to life? It was surreal. The band was watching the whole thing go down. Then the guy came to and stood up. The paramedics made him sit down and they took him to the hospital, but everybody there thought he was dead. It was intense. I will never forget that. Also, I agree the telluride shows were not great, but what an incredible place. I have the best photos from that place. If you don't believe me that the shows were not good, listen to Brokendown palace. It is really funny. They started in wrong key and Jerry finally stops the band and says we are playin in the wrong F'n key. Must be the mountain air.

I was there that night when the crowd open into a big circle I stood my ground as the crowd went by me pushing their way Out I look to the center of the circle there was a man laying down on the ground with another man on his knees holding the man that was laying down. The man was yelling does anybody know CPR I was much younger then had long blond hair a scruffy Little Beard with a red t-shirt with the bottom ripped off it grey shorts and a canteen over my back. I was trained in CPR in the military so I thought to myself go and help that man so I rushed to the man kneeling over the man that was hurt lying on the ground and as I got closer he kept yelling does anybody know CPR and when I kneel down to see if I could help the man that was holding the other man that was lying on the ground got up and left I looked and listened and I could see he wasn't breathing his face was black and blue his necklace as well so I tilted his head back and started to give him CPR after a couple of attempts air come rushing out of his mouth along with some spit saliva into my face and I could see he was breathing as I felt relief I stayed with the man for a bit and I noticed that the Medics were coming with a stretcher and leading the way was a friend of mine who had been on the tour with me and the rest of our family a brothers and sisters. as soon as the Medics approached me I had done the same thing that the man did to me that was helping him in the first place I got up and walked away. I was standing a distance behind in the shadows as friends of mine came up to me and asked me if I was okay. I told them I was okay I wasn't hurt. I watched the Medics try to convince the man that was hurt to get on the stretcher and let them take him out. the man that was hurt stood up stayed in the show as I continue as I continue to watch over him from a distance he was no longer interested in the show but instead looking through the crowd. I was assuming he was looking for me. I mean with long blonde hair a little beard and a silver cross dangling from my neck in his face and with moccasins on also canteen as I gave him mouth-to-mouth he might have thought he seen Jesus. I felt good that the man I survived okay and with a few caps and some music sheets that I had indulged in I continue to enjoy the show with the rest of my family. later on I had found out my friend who went and the medics. had seen me trying to help his brother. and his quick thinking was to get help. For three nights I kept a candle lit peace sign up in the mountains where we were camping. after all these years and have gone by I still remember Red Rocks as one of my most spiritual tours that I've been on. all so Telluride. I still hear Jerry's voice to this day saying to all my sisters and brothers keep the faith.
