I was there. It was a really great show. By far the best of the three night run. The skies were completely clear walking into the Forum and we left the building to extremely thick fog. Seemed fitting.

Funny seeing your comment on here. I was just seeing this and looked down to see your comment and realized who you were! I believe we went to this show together? Was that when we tried to stay at my dad’s place in Redondo Beach after the show but then had to get a hotel?

@@StarDarkAshes Hey Chis! Yes we did go to this show together. This was the run where our group had the nitrous tank. The show where we tried to stay at your dads house were the Carson shows in 1990 and my memory was for that one we ended up sleeping in the car maybe? Hope all is well.

@@berrycrawford5579 I ended up using my mom’s credit card that was only supposed to be for gas and we got a room at holiday inn. My memory is a bit spotty but I am pretty sure you were at the hotel. We went to several shows together so I’m sure both scenarios happened. I don’t think we stayed in a car when we were selling nitrous. We definitely had a room.

@@StarDarkAshes Yeah, it was the Carson show where we had to sleep in the car. I remember at one point we went to some people's seedy hotel and there was blood on the wall and I asked "why is there blood on your wall?" and this spaced out girl calmly said something like "Oh, Jeremy got stabbed" like it was not big deal. Those were great shows too :)

Hey now I was at this show and it’s a barn burner ! Solid performance throughout this show. This version of I’m A Man is Garcia at his best , the solo Jerry rips is just Shredding 🎸 The whole Forum went nuts and I had Goosebumps from head to toe. I did the February Forum run too and Spencer was also a special guest for one show so that’s why he says I’ve been hiding in my dressing room since last February !!! The band was at their peak in 1989 and this shows represents how tight and in the pocket the boys were. I love this band and saw over 200 shows and I can never get enough 🎸 Mahalo Kevin for all your efforts Peace ☮ from Hawaii 🏝🏄🤙🌺🐬

My first show I was gonna buy a ticket until I saw what I could get my hands on in the lot ,was amazing simucast on the radio I was 13 years old wearing Guatemalan textiles what ever happened to that awsome imported pants and shirts .

One of these nights fas cold very windy. Seemed like every deal went on in my buddy's VW tent that came of the side of the bus. Great run of shows. Sketchy area for sleeping in bus.

I think Hornsby was warming up for the deal as early as like 1982 or 84.... I met him at a Huey Lewis show that he was warming up for in like 1987 or 1988 but I didn't know he was associated with the dead at that time and I wasn't a deadhead yet....

This is the show that Patrick Shanahan was killed at by LAPD

Patrick was a friend of mine. We worked together at the Claim Jumper restaurant in Fountain Valley. He gave me my very first GD tape. We went to a few shows together. This show, we met in the lot beforehand, and planned on meeting up after the show. Coming out of the show, I noticed an abundance of police activity, but didn't think anything of it. It's the Grateful Dead after all. We waited at my truck for some time, gathering our thoughts, then went home. I heard about it the next day. To this day, when whatever band plays Stella Blue, I take a lap around the venue in his honor! I also raise a glass on his birthday, as we share that day as well.

Me and friends saw him(or who we figured had to be him after the news the next day) For some reason we sat in our seats when the lights went up and hung out until the place was damn near empty rather than bail immediately. At one point we heard this ruckus and I noticed a guy below us about a hundred yards or so and at first I thought he was laughing hysterically. But then it dawned on me that he was terrified and freaking out having a bad trip. He had two people near him who I thought were part of his crew, but watching further I think they were strangers trying to calm him down. Finally two yellow jacket security dudes show up and basically escort him outside and he was fighting them more frantically as they got closer to the door, as if he was absolutely terrified of going outside. We have no idea what happened to him after that. After we found out a young man died, we figured that was him and he had to be terrified because he foresaw his own death during his trip. In the news article we read later, the guy he went to the show with said it was during the China Rider that out of nowhere Patrick just fell to his knees and started raising his arms and crying out. Pretty chilling stuff. The cops were unbelievably aggressive in that parking lot. Way overbearing! The worst I ever seen at a show. We were walking in the lot and we saw a police car come screaming around a corner and almost hit a group of people walking and they slammed on their brakes and a cop on a bullhorn started screaming at people to leave the parking lot immediately. So putting 2+2 together, Patrick must have been freaking out in the parking lot and him and the dickhead LAPD soon crossed paths and that was the end of him. Remember this was around the time of Rodney King and the LAPD were notorious for being out of control lunatics running around like a nazi gestapo.
