Alan Watts, duality needs both the positive and negative of every situation experienced. The negativity is my opportunity to compromise my belief system. There is a gem in every challenge(negative) situation. Gratitude naturally is expressed to me when both are looked. Integrating(experiencing) both expresses gratitude as a happening and not a doing for myself.

This is excellent. Ive experienced something similar. I now see how i've been able to have learned a lot through my experiences of life's misfortune. Until recent years i couldn't see that there' could be any positive side to my experiences what have been tough going many times throughout my life. Our whole family was born into childhood abuse. Had i not been born into this abuse, and if id been born into a far easier life, perhaps i wouldn't have gotten to know the details of how child abuse can affect humans. The school of hard knocks is not without some handy benefits.

Love the video. I had an insight recently that gratitude is actually an “intellectual” act. I think I always kind of associated it as an “emotional” act since it makes you feel good about what you have. But after some reflection, I came to the conclusion that the “comparing mind” - which is often blamed for a lot of our psychological suffering - is also the initiator of gratitude. There’s that quote that “comparison is the root of all suffering.” However at the same time I think we can say that “comparison is the root of all gratitude.”

This video might save me from losing my job. I started a new sales role and am not hitting quota, and I think it's because when I'm on the floor I'm frustrated instead of being in a positive mindset, and it comes across in my tone.

Back in my late 20’s I met a guy I will call SG. He offered me a job, so I quit the job I had. When he realized he couldn’t manipulated me, he made up some ridiculous stories and fired me. I sued him, so he made a woman impersonate former coworker of mine and told my ex wife that she had had an affair with me, this triggered my divorce. I hated this man for more than 20 years until I realized that he helped me get out of a job in which I wouldn’t grow and haloed me get out of a marriage in which I wasn’t happy.
