micknm: This song is about Mary Stuart, one time Queen of France, Queen of Scotland in the mid 1500's and cousin to Queen Elizabeth of England, She was executed whilst a prisoner in England on a (probable trumped up) charge of treason. The other Mary Stuart was the daughter of James 2nd about a hundred years later who was married to the Dutch prince William of Orange who was invited to take over the thrones of England, Scotland and Ireland and ensure Protestant supremacy in the British Isles.

As much as I tried understanding your post, I couldn't, however, this song speaks of Mary Stuart, murdered in cold blood by the tyrannical Elizabeth I for being Catholic. I however, don't understand how can the Scots bow to this Anglican church (even if it's under the guise of "Church of Scotland", it begun at the same time) in modern times knowing they were oppressed and prosecuted. The original church of the Scots is Roman Catholic, like their brothers Irish.
