Woeld be great, but the way it's going, he'll receive either Japanese residence or a refegee/investor visa soon, and latter most likely citivenship. Japanese culture is much closer to China's than India's, besides his and his families' faces won't stand out as much, it's understandable he feels more comfortable having his family living over there, most likely will start new ventures in Tokyo and Japanese gov't will give him aid galore for him to get used to this new environment

About the zero covid policy: That worked reasonably before Omicron. The problem is that China has poor quality vaccines and also a poor uptake of vaccination, especially under the elderly in rural areas. There have been few infections as well, due to the lockdowns, so little immunity via that route. The result is an extremely vulnerable population. They should buy in MRNA vaccines, like most other countries have done, vaccinate as many as possible and then relax the restrictions. But they need to do it quickly. Just letting things rip, so to speak, is going to cause a bloodbath in a population that is already elderly, due to the one child policy. I suspect that admitting their vaccinations and their vaccination drives have been a failure, would add up to 'loss of face'.
