Nehru was having affairs, scandals, supporting china to conquer tibbet etc. A large section of Indians hate Nehru for his greedy character so we don't care anymore if he really have to do anything with Edwina. Maybe Brits will be hurt with this but not us.

Haha only the posh Brits would care, if anything we should thank him for doing what the epitome of a Naval Officer could not... Satisfy a woman... Besides while Nehru was visiting Edwina, his highness was away playing with little boys and destroying their lives. That is what we are ashamed of, not the gentle cucking :)

That is where you are wrong. Brits will not Hurt at this exposé. Congress that never stops worshipping Leru and all their chamchas will Hurt the most. We should pressurize BJP to push for revealing all the info. We should promise today's ties with Brits will not be hurt. We should infact offer Britain more deals and offers if this is revealed. @tryarunm
@tryarunm 2 жыл бұрын
Because Nehru was a pacifist. Gandhiji was afraid that Patel would resort to violence both in the freedom struggle, then against Jinnah and the Muslim League, then against the Indian princes who hesitated to allow their states to join the union. Of course, in the end Partition proved to be a bloodbath beyond anybody's wildest nightmares, but who is to know what atrocities the British might wrought against a violent insurrection had Patel called for one. Remember the unimaginable British retaliation after 1857? There would have been a Jallianwala Bagh every day in some or the other part of India.
@MsHSpring
@MsHSpring 2 жыл бұрын
What always puzzled me is, so many freedom fighters were beaten to death by the British or were hanged.. Yet Nehru and Gandhi were treated nicely and were allowed to read and write books and stuffs!.. Some say that the real reason for Indian independence is Subash Chandra Bose, and Nehru agreed with the British that Bose will be arrested and handed over to British!.. Guess our history is fabricated too!!.. heavily manipulated by the C party..

The papers might also reveal influence of the USA on partition - there's one theory that they pushed it as they were keen to preserve their naval base in Karachi, so they supported and encouraged Jinna. The USA saw Nehru and Ghandi as too socialist and therefore impossible to influence. They Americans would not want this to be released.

At that time, is it wrong to expect the leaders of this country to be strong? Okay, you can't do much about the past, but shouldn't one not forget the wrongs that were done, and call a spade when it is? Also, nobody is white washing anything, these are the facts that Nehru himself has written in his letters and documents. Can he not be judged on his own past documented actions? Seems like Aug 15 is a farce. What really has meaning for India is January 26. "Dominions were autonomous communities within the British Empire which were 'equal in status' but had an 'allegiance to the Crown'. What it meant was that King George VI _continued to reign_ as the Emperor of India and Lord Mountbatten was the first Governor-General of the country. Nehru was sworn in as the premier, but served on the command of the British Governor-General, and Indian leaders were administered oaths in the name of the British King. What it also meant was that a British field marshall led the Indian army and judges appointed by the British _continued_ to be part of the high courts and the federal court.. It was *only on January 26, 1950, that the country was able to break free from the monarchy* and transform into a sovereign democractic republic after its constitution came into effect " Source : Indian Express

@@bonnie7898 first of all india isn’t a British colony anymore, so we don’t need ‘so called’ queen’s permission to run our country. Just for your info not only British (your ancestors) looted 45 trillion $ from India and killed millions of innocent people and haven’t even apologize or return any looted wealth or money included (kohinoor diamond) and many more go to British museums and see the loot. Even the word loot is also looted from India. Personally I don’t think india should demand apology I think india should demand all the wealth and money back. So based on your GDP you need to took massive loans and borrow money to return 45 trillion$ and have a taste of your on medicine. And also india should demand to break England into 3 pieces (what British did to us) so that you can understand the pain and suffering of innocent peoples (no offence) sorry (not sorrry) if I hurt you but truth ! Very bitter !! And also india should put sign boards at the airports that dogs and Britishers are not allowed 🚫, Same as what our ancestors, elders faced in India during British rule !!

All Upper Class English institutionalised sexual escapades. Sir Winston Churchill's mother reputed to have had 250 lovers. To promote careers , it was normal for politicians' wives to become mistresses of top politicians. British nobility regularly married Rich Americans and expected a big dowry. Lord Curzon, Lord Randolph Churchill etc. Edwina Mountbatten had regular affairs with musicians , entertainers etc.

It was well known that Jawarharlal Nehru was having a long term affair with Mountbattens wife. In fact, after her death, Nehru sent an Indian warship to lay a wreath at sea where she was buried. Mountbatten could not care less, he was of a different persuasion.

I am British so am not an expert on India and Partition. However, my view is that the Viceroy, Mountbatten, bundled it all into a bag and left as fast as his feet would carry him. My suspicion is that he wanted to make himself look good and was not quite so concerned with the millions of affected people in India ,who were having to relocate to continue their lives, and all the associated violence perpetrated as a result.

Mountbatten's personal views on Nehru are irrelevant. That he was partially responsible for the mess that Britain left India in is widely known. Nothing there to justify £600,000, so it must be secrets that are at the heart of the royal family.

He was incredibly close to Prince Charles. I'll bet there are plenty of juicy secrets about the future king. There'll also be a metric shit ton of rascist comments i'll bet regarding Indian independance - perhaps shared by members of the royal family. £600000 is nothing to spend. Parliment wastes more than that scratching their fat, useless arses every week.

What else was going on in the period covered by the diaries that the UK government may want to hide - 1947 and 1948? The marriage of the future Queen Elizabeth II took place in November 1947. She'd agreed in secret in 1946, but the engagement wasn't made public until she reached the age of 21. Mountbatten had been secretly plotting to get her married to his nephew, Philip (also from obscure Danish - Greek royalty), since he introduced them together when she visited Dartmouth naval college when she was aged just 13. Anyway, the King and Queen (later known as the Queen Mother) strongly opposed this relationship, but Mountbatten eventually triumphed. Princess Elizabeth became besotted with Philip and was able to finally win her parents' reluctant acceptance. So what might Mountbatten and his wife be saying to each other in this moment of triumph? Perhaps some details of the royal courtship and how the King and Queen were won over. Or perhaps some details about Philip that are still sensitive - he has just recently died. Also, to be charitable to the British government, they may just want to postpone publication of anything potentially distressing to the Queen herself, because she is now very frail. Of course the secrets may concern Indian independence, Nehru and the tragically botched Partition and rushed British military withdrawal. What the UK government might fear here is damage to relations with India. But holding the papers back also risks damaging relations with India. The Indian government and people have a legitimate interest in their own history! So I think if Indian diplomats start pushing for publication the calculation in London would change, and the UK government would release the papers and take whatever hit follows. That of course is if the secrets they are protecting concern India. If they instead concern the Queen's marriage then they won't release the papers till well after her death. If the diary revelations or letters concern both India and the royal marriage then I expect domestic politics will prevail, and India will have to wait.

British complicity in 1947 cost India a million lives and a divided nation.They made sure that partition was unhindered. On hindsight, perhaps it was the correct decision but it could have been effected without the bloodshed.

It can also be like this : With INA & SC BOSE pressure Britain dictated Congress to drag the independence. The independence must only be given by the Brits and it shouldn't be taken from them as it will tarnish the image. Was Nehru a Decoy ? its a long standing doubt for 🇮🇳ns.
