Yahtzee mentions the additional gravity styles like it's a bad thing, but I'd say this game does the light/medium/heavy combat style very well. It's not the case of "find your favourite and never touch the other two", rather there often are situations where one is preffered over the others (eg armored enemies for heavy, flying for light etc etc). All the tools have place and time to be used, unlike other games that give you 20 different solutions to a very simple problem.

The thing is, there's another couple of 'levels' after the human blob boss that somewhat give a backstory to Kat. And these are full story missions as well, they have full story and two bosses sprinkled in. Although they do follow the trend of making fuck all sense

Just wanna point out that the "fake" credits take place DURING the "final" cutscene of the game, and then as soon the cutscene ends the game lets you know that there's one more chapter and that there's an NPC you should go talk to. Screen doesn't go black or anything. If it did, I'd agree with people's complaints about having another segment after the credits.

RegurkAbas Okay, but still, kind of fucking pretentious to stick a real ending after a fake ending. That's like putting the real ending of a game behind 15 dollar DL- wait a minute, Capcom already did that with Dead Rising 4. But never the less, it is still incredibly stupid to roll credits, for, and I timed this, a whole 2-3 minutes, without anything during which to show that this wasn't the end. I have seen people compare this bait and switch to the bait and switch of Doctor Ned in Borderlands 1, but the thing with that was, those credits only went on for 3 seconds. You cannot pull a bait and switch like this without any way of telling what's going on! It would be as if a movie went through almost all of its run time, and right before the ending, rolled the credits, and then after the 10 minute credits the final climax of the movie happened. This is just kind of dumb and pretentious, like the fact I am telling you this on the Internet and expecting you to read this is. . . . . . . . . . . . . . TL:DR Don't be a pretentious twit like this game(or me).

Yeah, to the people getting on his case for not finishing the story because missions were after the credits...locking some of the story, especially STORY-CRITICAL STUFF, behind "fake credits" is a risky move that will lead to precisely this, people thinking the game is over and turning it off. PS - Can a British translator confirm for me that "What g'wan me bredder?" is basically the same as "Whatcha want, my brudda?"

Just going to put this out there: while it probably wasn't all that successful for Sony, that's entirely due to their own mismanagement and lack of support/marketing in the West. There's no reason why it shouldn't have had native HDMI Output, the memory cards should have had a major price cut by now, and why the hell aren't its games on the PS4's Store like they are on the PS3's? PS+, AA/AAA Japanese developers, and Western and Japanese Indie developers have made it a massive success for those who own the thing, in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the game, yet I completely agree with Yatzee. That being said, Yatzee didn't finish the game... because there's a final chapter at the end that explains all of Kat's backstory. However I can't blame Yatzee for thinking what he thought was the end was the end because the end credits play like that's it. You have to find a Glowing yellow girl and talk to her a couple times then the final quest line opens up. It's pretty epic

I'm reading the comments on the true ending of the game (didn't beat it yet, I want to beat the original again before jumping into the sequel), and I'm sorry, but the fault in this is on Yahtzee. Credits screen doesn't always mean the game is over. He should've at leadt attempted to explore some more before making the argument that "dev team doesn't know where to take Kat's character". Is it a point of criticism that this should've been presented BEFORE the credits? Sure, I won't argue with that. But Yahtzee did make a mistake. A statement about this (and additional criticism towards this) should be made IMO. Or not. I mean, who cares, really? A critic makes a mistake. Happens all the time.

He didn't say he didn't find the ending, he just didn't include it in his list. If he did miss it then that says more than if he didn't. You shouldn't have to play pin the tail on the ending in order to guess where to stop playing a game, especially if you didn't really enjoy it. Considering one of his big complaints is that in 2 games Kat's backstory was dangled in front of us but not revealed, the final chapter of the game actually would make a difference. I have to admit that when I reached the "fake" credits I was ready to fly into a rage over another incomplete ending, but playing that last bit does provide a fully satisfying ending, even if it doesn't make 100% sense.

Josiah Vock I mean I don't know about you but I typically quit playing when the credits roll after a climactic battle. Usually close the game and play something else. Because that signifies the end and I have a huge backlog of games to play through and only so many hours to play.

I tend to just kick back in my chair and enjoy the afterglow and music as the credits roll, it certainly helped that it showed my camera roll alongside the credits which due to me getting all the collectables consisted of blurry photos I took while flying past which was quite entertaining

Not to mention the GIANT UNAVOIDABLE SPLASH SCREEN that says "Chapter Eto" as soon as the first credits end, and the camera locking on to the character youre supposed to follow to get the final missions. It takes some serious density to not realize there was more content, fake out credits arent exactly new territory in any medium, especially games.

Cactus Man But they're dumb territory. It's dumb when Marvel does it, it's dumb when games do it. I know very few people who willingly sit until the end of the credits on anything, much less a game reviewer who only has a set amount of time to devote to playing a game to make an episode. It's a cheap gimmick to seem 'artsy' or 'original'. It sucked when Blood Money did it too.

Worth noting that the fakeout credits arent just rolling credits on a black screen either, theyre credits rolling on top of a cutscene showing the resolution of the boss fight, so unlike the usual Marvel stuff you have no reason to walk away, especially if youre still expecting answers as you most certainly are at that point in the game. And its IMMEDIATELY after that you get told theres more stuff, theres no period between the end of the cutscene and the "Next chapter" notification that you could reasonably think the game is over. I think theyre dumb too, but this isnt "wait to see if they hid something", its completely different and people are making assumptions based off what you expect usual credit sequences to be.

I kinda like that Kat doesn’t give 2 fuck about who she was. Ever other game that dose the amnesia thing and it’s just kinda nice to see a story not disappear up it’s own ass about it. Kat was a pope queen at some point and now she’s a friendly Neighbourhood gravity shifter, that’s kinda all we need. The charm of these games comes from watching Kat get distracted by something, fall down a open man hole into a sewer, then beam about how it would make for a lovely home. Then we play a mission about her gathering used unwanted furniture for her new sewer home, helping a few people where she can.

Plus there's Kat's outfit, which Yahtzee keeps poking at for being stripperrific, but is revealed to literally be her underwear from when she fell from higher on the pillar and her big fancy dress blew off. But because she's such a positive-minded and carefree character, and has no memory otherwise, she just decides that "this is what I wear" and gets on with things. I love how something that's usually just a trope to appeal to the player turns out to be setup for a story payoff and also serves to inform the character.

I'm sure he's aware of this by now, but I'm saying it anyway: THAT WASN'T THE ENDING AND YOU SHOULDN'T SWITCH GAMES OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CREDITS I'm going to expand slightly on this, too: the entire non-end credits have a running comic strip down the side; it's basically a cutscene. There is absolutely no reason to skip or ignore them, and the second it's over the game hints STRONGLY at what to do next. It's not 'a cheap bait & switch bad design decision' or any of the uninformed insta-defender nonsense being spouted, it's clearly still running for the entire duration. I really don't get how he missed it.

Gravity Daze as a series has a lot of potential, but some of the minigames tested my patience. Still, I tracked down each side quest and speech bubble for the story and the world. Few games can claim the same. I love the characters and the world and the setting. The story is a bit obtuse sometimes though.

Three flaws of gravity rush. Camera Stealth missions Clinging through walls and floors, while using gravity styles. Their are a couple of plot points that are lacking especially the events that happened three years prior when Kat, Raven, Syd were in Jirga and the creation of Brahman's Angels. Despite this I personally feel the game surpasses it's predecessor, with New costumes, various side story missions, challenges, expansive areas were the people you know are enough to stand on their own. I can't forget the majority of the cast based on how much I enjoyed their personalities. Plus, what's not to love about a game that you can control gravity? Also selfies! 2017!

I never heard of this game, and wasn't even thinking of buying it, but yahtzee could make FIFA interesting, so I watch anyway.

Rishabh Bapat Didn't Yahtzee make FIFA 13 interesting by reviewing Mark of the Ninja, Anna, and Tokyo Jungle instead? Though a FIFA management sim could be awesome, especially if you can get John Oliver onboard to play himself, engaging in an international Schadenfreude-fueled media war against you.

It seems that you did not get the final ending. There is some post-game stuff that can be activated by talking to towns people about the glowing woman.

I think we may need a Gravity Rush 2 part 2 Duke Nukem Forever and GTA Online style Considering I just finished the game an hour ago, the masochist I am, it actually took me a while to realise what the hell I was supposed to do but now I've gotten to the end it really is gratifying to finish so I suggest we get this... thing rolling once more
