I've had videos in the past that took a while to make but this one was on a bit of a different level. thanks for all the patience of everyone who kept hearing me talk about making this without it coming out for like an entire month. also sorry for the 10 million different levels of audio quality, hopefully it's not too noticeable as I tried my best to fix it. but, lesson learned, record every line on the same day if possible.
this was my first time making a guide like this, I may do it once or twice more in the future. after this I want to try my hand at a video essay as well.

a couple of corrections to make: 1. to get the short-distance high-arc bacon you tilt the stick back, not up. 2. in the most recent patch, 4.0, that property of stall-then-fall dairs where they have reduced falling speed if used right after being launched has been removed.

A few notes for any aspiring G&W mains out there: - Up b is BROKEN out of shield due to invincibility on startup. Press up and b at the same time to avoid doing the stupid shield thing. - Ftilt is super broken. It hits really far below ledge and the hitbox is deceptively massive. - Chef ledgetraps at ledge cover pretty much every ledge option, as long as you find the spacing (usually around ledge roll distance from ledge). Also chef can just straight up nullify some chars if they lack good movement options or good projectiles to get around it (*cough* heavies *cough*) - CHEFTILT. If you manage to hit chef on ledge, you can combo into an FTilt (or dtlt, but its harder to hit becasue low hitbox) and it is a very potent and very consistent kill confirm. - Bomb, while not a super good move, is positive on shield meaning you can pressure shields with it. You usually want to short hop and then drift back after using it, and then you can dash in and grab or hit their shield as part of a true shield string. - Uair is RIDICULOUS, you can use dthrow in to 1 or 2 nairs (or more, if on triplats) and continue to just uair for 70-80% off one grab combo. Many characters will struggle to land, and will be forced to ledge where you can start chef ledge trapping. - also 2 hammer jablocks and if you hit a jablock combo with it you're automatically sick :^)

Down smash is the best punish and after a spotdodge it works super consistently. Also bomb-uptilt-nair-upb is true if you can position it correctly

What my Game and Watch experience has taught me in Ultimate: 1. Offer your humble bucket to Electrode (Silph Co stage and Pokeball) 2. Party Balloons with five Bob-ombs are also your friend. 3. Any time you get the winning blow on a throw, it's funny as hell 4. When in doubt, pray to the 9 gods 5. For the Final Smash, send the Octopus down anytime there's no stage beneath you. Then if your opponent manages to mash out, then can still potentially be killed from inability to recover.

Some additions: -second part of up b is good for catching high recoveries, due to the horizontal launch angle -up smash is almost un-punishable (for smash attack standards) -dtilt is good for chars that have bad horizontal recoveries -(idk how useful this is) using bucket in the air will stop you from rising, so short hop bucket will let you move for a bit while using bucket

G&W main here, i would just like to say that up-B is my favorite move because its the most vital, and when an opponent is far off stage and you cant throw out any aerials because you are below them, up-b gives them that extra little push to the blastzone

Oil Panic tip: if you want to absorb the energy from a projectile like Snake's side B, face the opposite direction of the projectile so it hits your back and explodes, therefore filling the bucket

As game and watch.... All you need is neutral b. Push them to the edge, or they go to the edge themselves to bait you(which makes things easier) and then simply space yourself just enough.... Badabing! You've just covered their jump, their get up attack, their get up roll, their double jump and the other recovery options. It's amazing what only b can do!

I like to play game and watch due to the speed. I'm used to DeDeDe's "slow as a truck and hits like one to" so the on-your-toes pressure I can get with his speedy moves and mix-ups is a new experience.

A couple extra things to note, The hitbox on down air is a lot more disjointed than it looks, Nair is _absolutely huge_ since the fish themselves are hitboxes too, And his up b has a pretty massive starting hitbox and is I believe the fastest out-of-shield option in the entire game which is pretty incredible. For some additional reading for anyone who is considering going to the next level with Game & Watch and use him in tournaments, PushBlock has a fantastic competitive analysis over on his channel (linked below). But yeah, Grayfruit has a great voice for tutorials and knows how to keep them interesting and funny. I'd definitely be up for a sequel in the future. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZKwiIxnp9B1orc
