having a chaingrab on spacies alone isn't enough to make a character viable. Roy can chaingrab the spacies. Pichu can chaingrab the spacies GnW has decent mobility, range, and power, but there are still a lot of things that would need to be changed to make him good: -a much better grab (considering most his combos come off grab) -better oos options (at least fix spot dodge and roll) -a real projectile instead of neutral B (useless move)

I feel like a Melee 2.0 with only SLIGHT buffs to characters would make the game outlive any other. I mean things like being able to jump out of kirby throws or the last hit of luigis dash attack, alongside all the g&w fixes (things that are clearly development oversights), as well as some tweaks like reducing the lag on ness b moves or ganon side b snapping ledge. Still, if it’s not developed by nintendo there’s no hope for a tournament viable sequel

Our closest thing: In 2010, Nintendo reissued Ball, the first G&W game. I don't think he'd work in any modern-type games, his whole shtick is that he basically belongs in the LCD land and era he's from, and kind of sticks out like a sore thumb anywhere else. (I'd totally buy if they did make new G&W games, though. They're fun to have!) I have always thought that a Game & Watch rhythm game would work today, though...

They had too becuase back in the day smash was so successfull for the 64 the devlopment team had one year to make melee. You can tell towards the end of the devlopment they rushed to much of the game to so it can be released with the Nintendo gamecube back in 2001. If Nintendo simply waited like 02 to 03 melee would be a prefect game and you would most likely have characters like sonic, snake, and maybe banjo back then. They was an article about how they want to get those characters in melee but due to time restrictions and copyright infringement for thrid party character back then it was hard for them to pull off this game and watch was thrown in there to just make a complete 24 character roster. People forget this and bash melee for it. It's the problem we have to today kids are impatience and what games rushed and then complain the the game is not finished.

It's possible that the oversight for his aerials being programmed as specials instead of airiels was because they were initially MEANT to be his specials. I mean just look at the artwork for the neutral air, that looks like it can be an up-b. And the back air also looks like it's his down-b after being fully charged. I have no idea about the up-air though, that just looks like an aerial.

It looks like... It literally became the end animation of his Up-B in every game since Melee, but that doesn't mean it was suppose to be. Unlike in Melee the Parachute doesn't damage the opponent it just helps horizontal recovery.

One of my favorite little tidbits about Game & Watch is that his model is actually fully polygonal and just flattened after the fact.
