This video shows a hike I've been wanting to do forever! I hike the Grays Peak Trail to the summit of both Grays And Torreys Peaks. Two classic Front Range 14ers. This hike is 8.5 miles round trip with 3,600 feet of elevation gain. This hike has stunning views, a beautiful alpine meadow and I even got lucky enough to see some mountain goats! Enjoy!

This was great, very helpful for what we will encounter. I hope I get to see some mountain goats :)

Really enjoyed this video. It gave me a good feel of what I might encounter if I hike it. If people who video their hikes would do more of letting us know where the more challenging areas are, it would help. Thank you for your efforts and honesty! 👍😉

Wow. Bridge? Steps? You can see the trail? It was not like that in 1975. It's still the same challenge distance altitude wise. Lots of effort. Good job. Only time I got in trouble weather wise was on Holy Cross. Lighting below summit. We still got home by 2am.

I came down around 3pm, it was raining and saw people still heading up. When I see that I wonder why more people dont die in these mountains.

Great job Ethan! Thanks for sharing the video. We stayed in Breck last September and did Quandary which was our first 14er. Do you see many people with dogs? We wanted to take our chocolate lab last year, but decided against it. I'm glad we didn't since the last 1/4 or so is a little sketchy IMO for a dog trained or not. We will be in Breck again September 21-30 so we are planning on doing Grays and Torreys.

Yes lots of people with their dogs on grays and torreys! The standard route is totally fine for dogs, definitely dont bring them on kelso ridge if you plan on doing that though!

Bring lots of water. Also if you have the option stay at a higher altitude like 8k+ feet for at least a couple of days before the hike. Also try to do a couple of easier hikes at a lower altitude like at 8-9k feet before doing grays and torreys. Have fun!

@@ethanshikingchannel7382 ill be in the area fro about 4 days prior to the excursion. We have camelbacks would that suffice or wold you recommend day packs with a larger bladder? Thank you for the reply we appreciate and value your experience.

thank you for posting - I am planning G&T in September - my1st 14er - did you pack much for the hike?

Not too much just water, snacks and there's always a good chance you'll need warm clothes! In September you may want to consider bringing micro spikes.

Question Ethan: Is there very much parking at the trailhead? Will I have a difficult time on a weekday getting a spot if I get there at 7:00am?

So what if you slip, trip and fall accidentally on the trail up gray...are you going to roll all the way down the mountain or will you just fall and get right back up.

What about the drive to the trailhead off I-70? Does it require a truck/suv? Or will a regular car get there?

Fun hike. I’m jealous of how uncrowded it appears. Both times I’ve hiked that trail it was Saturday and had probably 400 people on it. Did you try to drive the road? I’ve always parked off I-70 and caught a ride to the trail head. Speaking of Mt Of The Holy Cross, I hiked it this past Saturday and consider it a must. It’s VERY challenging but well worth it. Having to hike back up to half moon pass after summiting it is brutal haha. I’m with you on taking things slow on the trails. My pace is moderate but like you I always get it done. Would love to meet up for a hike sometime. Be safe.

Jason Thomas yeah its definitely less crowded during the week. I drove most of the road but I have a Corolla so I parked about a half mile away from the trailhead. Kudos to you hiking holy cross. That one definitely seems tough!

Well it definitely has a good amount of exposure which is mostly what freaked me out at the time. I definitely want to try it again. In all honesty it's not that bad!

@@ethanshikingchannel7382 Nice! I thought it looked like a fun and challenging hike. I get freaked out with high exposure and I dont risk it unless I got something to walk on. But I enjoy your videos! Coming from another content maker I enjoy watching yours when I'm not editing mine. I look forward to new ones this season!
