She pips her cherries quick and nice, because for this task she has a neat device. It's called a 'cherry-pipper'. Such a good job does this 'cherry-pipper' that rarely a cherry pip will slip her. Not denying there is not the odd pip that tries. Never underestimate the task of pipping cherries, Count that machine among your 'necessaries'. One could easily slip in to a dip When it comes down to your last cherry to pip!

Suggestions to prevent pie crust shrinking down the sides: 1) Roll the pie dough about 2 inches larger than the pie plate, including depth. Thus, if using a 9 inch diameter, 2 inch deep pie plate ... roll out a 13-inch disk of dough. 2) Crimp the top edge about twice as thick as the side and bottom of the dough, once placed in the plate. The dough should cover the upper rim of the plate. 3) I usually blind or prebake before adding the filling. Fill the shell with pie weights completely to the top. Chill for 15 minutes. Bake 5-10 minutes at 375° F. No more shrinking crust!

Ariel, I think I’m way too excited about your orchard, especially, those cherries. I used to grow a little veggie garden, potatoes, green beans, okra, tomatoes, squash, onions, garlic, and cucumbers. I had apples, hazelnuts and two 80’ trellises of blackberries. It was a satisfying dinner when we had our garden veggies and a blackberry cobbler. We also made blackberry jam. My grandkids helped weed and gather. Thank you for sharing your life with us…from east Tennessee.

I put a little tapioca in the cherry mixture then a top crust. It doesn't get so juicy and runny and works well. Love your channel Ariel😊

The Belgians make a delicious sweet and sour beer of natural fermentation(with wild yeasts) that uses cherry juice. It's called 'Kriek Lambiek'. It would accompany this pie perfectly.

Patchwork pie crust is what I call it, as I too am not the most proficient in pie crust making. But, the flavor is what matters and more fruit!! I did not know that about poking holes in the crust.

I wish I knew how to prevent my pie crusts from slumping down the sides of the dish when par-baking. I love pie but have a tendency to do more cobblers and the like because I am not the best at pastry.
@jonap57402 ай бұрын
Curl the pastry up over the rim of the pie dish. It will shrink always because it has so much fat in it, but if you over hang it more, or crimp it, there will be crust at the top of the sides. Paul Hollywood or Mary Berry videos might help.
@christineb81482 ай бұрын
