I’m being completely honest here! I find the Great Devourer’s animation BETTER than Wojira’s! The way wilfilm details it was amazing! To the scales, the weak spot, the pink coloring of the eyes, the head, and the intimidating mouth with fangs was just so good! We should also take into account how this was the FIRST SEASON made, and Wilfilm having this good of animation for the Great Devourer was just a treat! (Especially for my nine year old self who was positively TERRIFIED of the Great Devourer because of how well animated it was!) I’m not dissing on Wojira or Wildbrain, because I believe completely that Wildbrain is the best at animating Ninjago, but I just wanted to praise Wilfilm for how well they animated the Great Devourer way back in 2012!

The great devourer has has a lot more of a character than wojira. The snake that increases its size upon consumption, the snake that turned garmadon evil, and the snake who birthed children of which we saw in season 7. I also have a theory that the great devourer has a great connection to the stone army and therfore the overlord. It was its venom that reawakened the stone army after all. Almost as if the overlord created the great devourer to corrupt garmadon all those many years ago. But wojira is just teased to be this big scary monster and I didn't like that they nerfed the first spinjitzu master to prove said point.

great devouer fight also comes with great cost, ninja lose their home and garmadon keeps the golden weapons turning them into his megaweapon

@@Crusty783 i mean loss of a team member is a big cost but not as much as being homeless and giving up your strongest weapons to your enemy who will use them to tourment you for next two seasons (both garmadon and overlord)

I agree! I feel like The great devouverer was basically THE ENTIRE STORY and maybe that could work but I think another reason why Wojira was better was bc Wojira was more of a final boss battle

i like the great devourer more because imo it had long consequences because of it the it cause TOT and crystallized which is "ending of ninjago" the effects of the great devourer are greater ( no pun intended) then the one from wojira but we all have are own opinions and i respect yours

@@Crusty783 also the fact the devourer caused Garmadon corruption causing many things like Garmadon being with Cheng and later on awakening the stone army of the Overlord after he’s death That snake caused like 5 entire seasons with he’s only like three or two scenes

I think that opinion which one is better is really personal because both are good and the series has changed quite a lot since than. Keeping this in mind, I think that the first time we see the monster was so much better with great devourer.We can see wojira at the end of earlier season, so the design, size and many other things weren't a surprise. Great devourer did this so much better, with Pythor leading us to believe that the devurer is as big as the statue and than we see how much he underestimated the beast. This just felt much more meaningful back than than compared to seabound, when we don't even experience the awekning of wojira (only in the flashback). Also the devourer seemed bigger maybe because wojira rarely atacked anything not using her powers. Also they made many scenes to show the audience just how big the devourer was, for example it destroying the destiny's bounty or it being mistaken for a train. It might also be due to wojira moving so quickly and smoothly. Devourer was slower and not really agile, but this made it seem huge. Also I would say that devurer had better powers, which gave our characters a time limit because after some time the devourer would be literally unstopable. This really rised the tension. But overall I fell like both of the fights were great.

I personally prefer the Great Devourer Fight because the Wojira fight was too similar to the fight in season one. Plus, they way they portrayed the islanders brings the points down.

I think the Devourer also has pretty long-term consequences. Garmadon getting the Golden Weapons to stop it it leads to him finding the Overlord, as its venom unleashes the Stone Warriors, and permanently scars Pythor. It is the reason for both Garmadon and Harumi being villains, and was also the object of Pythor's obsession, so three villains were only villains in the first place because of it. Not to mention of course the Hands of Time using its spawn to create and control the Iron Doom.

Personally i have to give it to the Devourer, mainly in terms of sheer intimidation and the fact it was more original, one of my main issues with seasons past March of the Oni is that they just started re-doing the last original season but bigger and with better animation

Honestly for that time the great Devourer looks great (the animation details are awesome) and it if it was made today with the better technology and bigger budget it would defenetly be better fight than Wojira’s. Plus it has much greater impact on the story than Wojira’s battle, due to the Devourer Harumi lost her parents and the entire oni trilogy plus crystalized have happened becose of this (plus season 2, etc.). So this is Honestly stupid comparing these two fights, if they have been make at the same time (either both in 2012 or 2021) it would be much more difficult (but I still think it would go to the season 1). Although I love season 15 finale and action animation, the season 1 finale is just more nostalgic has bigger impact on the story and is just the og Snake fight (and yeah there is just no question that the fang blades plot and themselfs are much better, not even talking about the main purple villain who released these snakes becose we all know Pythor is just much better)

Personally, while the animation and character designs for Wojira is definitely better, I think the Great Devourer is much better in terms of being a final threat (next to the Overlord, who's infinity more dangerous) as the Ninja are truly outnatched by it and it takes a team effort to defeat it while Nya defeats Wojira all by herself. While Wojira is great and all, it kinda recycles the Great Devourer battle which was done a little better since it was build up as a threat and pretty much the catalyst for nearly everything that's happened in Ninjago like the stone warriors awakening. Also, while the battle with Wojira did have long term consequences, the Great Devourer also had long term consequences it's actions caused Lord Garmadon to forge the mega weapon, the stone warriors awakening thus causing Lord Garmadon to gain a new army and the Overlord to return.
