It's a pretty big jump! I wouldn't say this song is for absolute beginners but I do think it's a good song to aim for! Thank you so much! You know, I know exactly what can help but it's too hard to put into a comment. I've been wanting to make a video about it but just haven't been able to make the time 🥹🥹🥹 A good point to remember though is that whenever the left hand is playing the right hand is playing along with it. When putting the hands together, it's important to know which notes line up with each other... When you're clear about that, then you can start incorporating things like alternative rhythms, metronome, chords, etc. Sorry if this is a little unclear 🥹😭 there's actually so much that can and should go into playing not just this piece but piano in general it's just too much to write 😶‍🌫️

amazing tutorial, thank you! I especially love how you break it up and explain some of the song structure it really helps to understand what you're playing! Edit: lol my hands are too small to play the arpeggiated chords (I can do 9 keys at the absolute max, but only 8 comfortably) but I'll skip that step. However I still love how you explain that!!! Makes you think of chords and not single notes which makes it all much easier. Edirt 2: Ok this song is actually super simple when you think in chords. I'm mind-blown! This is so cool. Thank you for your tutorial!
@WholeWheatPiano
@WholeWheatPiano Жыл бұрын
Hey thank you so much! 😁 I'm glad the chords help. I think understanding the theory when learning a song is such a music hack that's undervalued. Makes memorizing much easier and practice a bit more structured. It's a win win!

At 3:08 are you really suppose to be able to hit b flat, e flat, c, and f sharp at the same time? How do you position your hand for that?
@WholeWheatPiano
@WholeWheatPiano 7 күн бұрын
So it's more of an arpeggiated chord meaning that you don't hold the notes at all, just glide through them like a harp. It's definitely a big stretch so don't worry about holding out the chord. Hope that helps!

Great tutorial! Just wondering if you have any advice for pedalling? Unsure whether to pedal just with the left hand bass notes or with every right hand arpeggio
@WholeWheatPiano
@WholeWheatPiano Ай бұрын
I would say that anytime your right pinky plays a top note, that's when you should be switching and holding the pedal. A lot of the ambiance of this piece comes from the sustained notes so hold that pedal! Just remember to release when the chords change! (As in when the pinky plays a new note) 😁

@@YoSm411 Are you playing the hands separately? Or together? If separate, play as many of the bottom notes as you can as chords and jump from chord to chord. Don't play the notes separately but as whole clusters and really get used to that before playing them separately.

Learning the one handed parts are easy but playing them together is a problem for me, are there any tips?
@WholeWheatPiano
@WholeWheatPiano 2 ай бұрын
There is SO much that can be done here. I'd say one rule of thumb is use a metronome and get the hands separately to the same speed (Ex. 100bpm each SEPARATELY) then when putting the hands together, cut that speed in half and work up from there. (Ex. 100/2=50bpm). Another tool (that's hard to explain through words) is playing the right hand normally while the left hand plays chords instead of melody lines. (Ex. In 4:05 . . . play both Bb's TOGETHER then D and A TOGETHER then @ 4:09 d-g-a-c TOGETHER while the right hand plays normally). This gets your hand used to getting in that position smoothly without pressuring you to play all the notes. You have to play these with correct timing though or it kind of makes things weird.... I hope that helps 😭😭

@WholeWheatPiano
@WholeWheatPiano Жыл бұрын
3:07 and 3:14 are HUGE stretches so don't worry about holding all the notes with your hand, use the pedal instead to hold the notes. If anything, I recommend holding all the pinky notes (top notes). You should also practice from Up to Down... get used to making the jumps with the Pinky and Middle finger and practice those two notes over and over... that's the biggest hurdle with this piece. Hope that helps and good luck! 💪🏽
