Great Pyrenees vs. Ragdoll kitty- Kitty wins

My Great Pyrenees named Lynx and my Ragdoll Madeline. During my wine and jewelry party my two precious babies decided to have their own fun, which actually turned out to be the entertainment for the evening. Little Madeline loves to instigate and play with the giant puppy who is 1.5 years old.

All Great Pyrenees seem to have the same playful jumping/thrashing around motion when they get excited lol! So precious, makes me miss my Great Pyrenees Rosie!

Our boy is 4 1/2 months and everyone is in love with him, from the neighbor kids who love to pet him to the people we see on walks to the other animal parents at the vet's office. He has the sweetest disposition and is friendly to everyone. To the people who want one, I'd say they do shed a LOT and you need a very high fence.

yes i have a ragdoll cat and used to have a great pyrenees/german shepard mix. i could NEVER leave the house without a lent roller.

Reminds me of our Pyr with our cats. Our older male cat though taught our Pyr respect in some pretty harsh lessons. He doesn't put up with the bob and weave of our Pyr, and has drawn blood on two different occasions. Now the Pyr doesn't try and play with him anymore. Our Pyr looks just like yours does in the video. Was she still young in this video? Ours is about 2 years old now, and apparently won't mellow out until he's between 3 and 4. Yours seems like she's playing like a puppy, too.

My precious boy is a gentle giant and little Madeline doesn't even have her claws out when she is playing with him. My two babies get along very well and love each other. Its funny watching the cat instigate and pick fights with him. A lot of times she will start running at him and the dog actually runs from her and hides in the corner. I'm trying to get another good video of them that I can post. Usually by the time I grab my camera I miss all the good stuff.

@PUREPERV Hey. They definitely bark a lot especially at night. This dog is not good for an apartment setting. They need a lot of space and daily exercise. This dog doesn't drool that bad unless he's in a warm climate. I live in New York and he absolutely loves the winter. On the negative degree days when I would take him outside to go to the bathroom he would lay down in a mound of snow and be chewing on icicles. He's a very sweet boy but his barking is out of control.

Lol. Yeah it's funny sometimes the cat will take him by surprise and he jumps up to run from her and his feet are moving so fast but aren't going anywhere on the floor. They are very entertaining. The floor definitely gets beat up.

Too much hair. Summer time is the worst. His shedding time gets bad around the end of June and lasts until September or after. I have to vacuum everyday in the summer to keep up with it. I want another ragdoll but I don't think I can handle anymore fur.

The dog is doing the "play bow" - Lynx is asking the cat to play but that's a form of dog communication, the cat doesn't really understand, she thinks the dog is just being crazy.

My great Pyrenees would try so hard to play with her cat big-sisters, too! They'd all be sleeping on the couch one minute, then the pyr would go get a raggedy chew toy and bring it to the cats to play and shake it in their faces and they would just stare at her like, "you realize that's the same size as me, right?"

@tamaboom Surprisingly he's pretty good at it. It's funny because sometimes Madeline will catch him off guard and start running at him wanting to play. It's scares the dog and he tries running from her but on that floor he has a longer take off. Lol.

@runforrester My handsome boy gets attention everywhere we go as well. I get stopped everyday on our walks. One time this car stopped in the middle of an intersection when they had the green light to ask me what kind of breed it was. This breed definitely attracts a lot of attention. My guy just turned two. Luckily he is done growing now. He greets me with hugs when I arrive home and due to his size it knocks me off balance if I'm not paying attention. His paws go right over my shoulders.

@akiaki9jade Guess it's hard to judge tone in plain text; I didn't mean for that to sound as angry as it must have seemed, just wanted to defend the cat and explain that that is what they do when they play. Often in these nice cat and dog videos you get people who don't understand cats' body language criticise them in the comments section for being 'spoilsports' or grumpy, when they're anything but. Hope I didn't spoil your enjoyment of the video.

@akiaki9jade Poor dog? He's huge and heavy with large powerful jaws and the cat is small and fragile. Pyrenean Mountain Dogs are beautiful, kind animals, but any dog that big has to learn its boundaries and how to be gentle, which is what the owner is trying to encourage here with the occasional mild warning. And for your information, that's how cats play - they swat at things with their paws and kick and wrestle. If she didn't want to play she would have run away. They obviously get on well.

I was referring to the breed of cat that is quiet. Lol I am very aware that Great Pyrenees are NOT quiet. haha Its the one thing that drives me crazy. The barking never stops. I was warned before I bought him though.

npetrell Really? Mine (2-years old) rarely barks, it or out of the house. Heck, he’s only barked once in the last week, at a neighbor doing something unusual (trimming the underbrush) behind our property. Even that was only eight or so reserved barks, just enough to let me know something was going on. When he saw I wasn’t concerned, he walked away to go back to his normal activities (walking back over every so often to keep an eye on things). Inside, while he pays attention to noises, he seldom barks unless something is really out of the ordinary. For example, he went ballistic last month when the UPS driver opened the screen door to place a small package between the two doors. Driver said it startled him so much, he actually stepped back and pushed the screen door closed. Of course, when we’re playing, my overgrown slobbering fur ball just loves to bark at me. In fact, he makes all kinds of noises.
