Just stumbled across your channel, great stuff! That first restaurant's meat selection looked amazing, the name "Atalho" means "shortcut", but It's a play on words since "Talho" means "Butcher shop". Great content and thanks for sharing a bit on the culinary scene in Portugal :)

The wonderful Time Out Market is my favorite place in Lisbon and not touristy at all. My tips: try the codfish Brás style from chef Miguel Castro e Silva and some Pink Sangria from Tawny's to wash it down.

only one other place I can recommend but it's hidden away. It's called Frangasqueira Nacional in R. Impresa Nacional 11am to 3pm then 6pm till late. It's inside Travessa do Monte do Carmo intersecting with Rua de Sao Marcal. It's a very narrow area cars can't fit in this street. It's really hidden away you park off rua da escola politecnia and go down r. Sao Marcal and turn right into r. Monte do Carmo and it's like right there. Great video by the way.

I like your videos a lot. Pity that I only found them now. But I must correct you on something: Vinho verde is by definition dry and extra dry, not sweet al all. As in a green apple. If your vinho verde is sweet, it is because either is not really verde (from the western Douro and Minho regions) or it is not good. A tip on pronunciation the h after the n makes the n become like the Spanish ñ. Like in niño... vinho. Whereas the h after the l makes the l become like the ll in Spanish. Sevilla is Sevilha in Portuguese.

Hey, thanks for the info! I am not much of a wine person so I might be choosing the wrong descriptors ( or I had bad wine :) ). And yeah, my Portuguese pronunciation is garbage, I grew up in Florida with Spanish as a second language so everything reverts back to that pronunciation. Glad you dig the videos though!

@@TravelsInSpace not what you went to. Apart from Vinho Verde nothing else you tried was authentic Portuguese.

@@TravelsInSpace I think he's talking about sardines or Bacalhau. The pork steaks and the sea bream are quite traditional but not the most traditional. The "A nossa casa" dishes are modern takes on traditional ingredients but not traditional disher per se. You went off season on the sardines (eaten fresh from may to september) The bacalhau is the greater absence here.

@@HumbertoSilvaPT We have added both to our list for when we return! We actually had quite a lot of the bacalhau (Khat actually started each day with a pastéis de bacalhau) but never got it on film. We will rectify this!

Actually had some really good non-grilled-meat dishes at A Nossa Casa, and the seafood in general in Lisbon is super good. However, grilled meats are Josh's favorite so he tends to lean into them more - and Portuguese cuisine does them very well.

I wouldn't go to Time-Out. I have always thought that if the huge place is packed with people, it'd be hard for chefs to go to the washroom. Besides, is it clean? Do they wash their hands? Yuck!
