@publiusventidiusbassus12322 ай бұрын
Ottomans didn't spare the Knights of Rhodes out of kindness. The Hospitallers just weren't giving up and had already killed tens of thousands of the Sultan's personal army. To extend the siege until every knight was dead would've simply not been worth it, so an honorary surrender was offered. Suleiman wasn't gonna waste time and resources for a couple hundred Christian knights when he had continental Europe in his sights. The Rhodes headquarters was one of the best defended fortresses in the world, and the Hospitallers were absolute demons. It ended up being a massive blunder, but at the time it was pretty reasonable to let the knights go.

In yarmouk and qaddysiah and nahwand the Muslim Arabs were heavily outnumbered and didn’t wear heavy armor while their opponents in all three of those battles had the more men and better armor yet they lost meanwhile in the siege of Malta and siege of Vienna the Muslim ottomans had the more numbers and didn’t have the heavy armor but the Christian Europeans did but they had a better strategy and better at siege warfare. A Certified Sun Tzu Moment done Mistakenly by the Turks: ''When a foe is cornered, they must fight for their lives and will do so with the energy of final fear. If you force them to go down in a blaze of glory they will do so, taking more of your troops than you might otherwise expend.''

Hey MasterofRoflness, you already have other videos on the way but do you think you could make a video about Filipino Scouts flirting with American women at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair? This is the 3rd time I am making this comment because KZbin does not like me sharing the archive link to the newspaper article, my comments got deleted twice.
