I live in WA state and been to Vancouver BC many times. One thing I noticed in Canada is much fewer dedicated turning lanes and medians on city roads. Drivers turning left have to camp out in left lanes and dart through oncoming traffic. Increases the risk of crashes

I moved from another province to Vancouver, what I notice the most difference is that people don't treat yellow lights as yield to left turning cars. Negatives aside, I like the fact people allow cars to merge into your lane on highway driving, street driving, or just daily commute.
@RugbyGuide

Same! Yellow seems to mean 'speed up, you might make it before a red' here.
@paddington1670
@paddington1670 6 ай бұрын
That started in the late 90s early 00s in my opinion, before then when cars were generally slower and had either no ABS or bad ABS and worse brakes than modern vehicles, they didnt run as many yellows. Now with half the city with Tesla's and luxury cars it's a free for all at the yellow.

@@Chameshi IMO it is due to the double reds. In other countries, the instant your light turns red, the other way gets the green. The double reds here just encourages and enables red light runners.

At 4:15 I’m genuinely hoping the bicyclist is okay but I’m also hoping they and other bicyclists understand this situation could’ve been 100% prevented if the bicyclist just stopped as they did have a red light, sure some may think that because they’re on a bike the rules of the road don’t apply to them but it’s quite the opposite as they’re using the road too. It does affect me quite a bit as I’ve run into so many situations with bicyclists who run stop signs and stop lights and have little care as if it’s no big deal and to make it worse, when they’re in the wrong, they’re gonna make sure you know that they give you a stern talking to 😅
@J_NoNamesLeft73
@J_NoNamesLeft73 Жыл бұрын
That is totally the biker's fault. With the cam car in the way, no way for the white vehicle's driver to see that biker coming until it's too late. The biker, like drivers also has to obey road rules. I hope the cammer provided footage to the driver of the white car to clear them of any fault should the biker try to pin it on the driver of the white car. Hopefully an injury that serious teaches them a serious lesson that they are not above the law. It's not like he ran the red by 0.2 sec, biker had plenty of time to stop for the red.

Alot of these can be avoided if people realize that speeding/cutting people off only get them to their destination a few seconds sooner. Maybe even later... Also keep a safe distance between you and the person in front. Also also, whoever it is you are testing can probably wait for a response from you while you are driving, and does not need a message from you right that instant...

So most of the drivers see the hazard and instead of braking to at least try to avoid its just mostly a emotional and verbal reaction and in that moment its like they forgot they are in control of their own car and should make an effort to stop regardless of if your gonna make impact or not, its the fact that you gotta at least try even if the other person is clearly at fault, but since social media the world is turning into a culture of narcissism.

It's truly scary how terrible so many people are at driving... also WTF was that pedestrian doing @ 2min?! These videos are a great reminder to drive as defensively as possible. Really wish it was harder to get/maintain a license in BC/Canada.

At 2min, it was a crosswalk. The driver with the camera recognized it and yielded. The crashed driver didn't prepare to stop or even slow down. Obviously, stupid not to wait and see if the car would slow down like a normal driver, but the ped was one of the few actually following road laws in this video.

I’m trying hard to understand what was going through the minds of some of these people, most of these were preventable. Maybe the cell phone had some influence here?

2:03 This crash is actually the fault of the pedestrian. The BC Motor Vehicle Act Section 179 Subsection 2 states that "A pedestrian must not leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle that is so close it is impracticable for the driver to yield the right of way." You can tell it was impracticable for the driver to yield the right of way because they lost control trying to panic stop.
